...ex-Ipswich and England footballer, Kevin Beattie has died aged 64. Was only talking about him recently on the Youth team thread. Very sad, I think Bobby Robson described him as the best English born player he’d worked with.

Just proves what a great actor he was.I'm sure he was lovely man but I always remember back to roles he had playing henchmen in The Pink Panther Strikes Again and The London Connection. For that he always gave me the creeps.
Kevin Beattie part of that brilliant Ipswich side of Bobby Robson.
66 is no age.
Was a truly great player beset by injuries due to his no nonsense style of play.
RIP
He was hard as nails. A younger version of Tommy Smith....64 I think, Tommy. Yep, this broke yesterday afternoon but it is very sad.

That 4-0 game by my reckoning drew the warmest applause for a visiting side's performance in my time going to the game.Indeed Eggs sad news, hit hard times when he left the game at a young age, a player who would of had a lot of value in today's game, what a side Robson assembled for a provincial team, I remember them taking us apart at Goodison once in the 79/80 season, one of the best performances by a visiting team I've seen, 4-0 it was.
A cracking player RIP Kevin Beattie.
I was at that game and to make matters worse, my mate and I were jumped on at the station after the game. My mate ended up with a broken nose as they thought he was an Ipswich fan as he was from Bristol. A bad day all round. Very sad news about Beattie. A top, top player. That 4-0 game by my reckoning drew the warmest applause for a visiting side's performance in my time going to the game.
No criticism of the Everton performance that day, you just knew we had been battered.
Mind you we got our own back in the Cup a short while later.
He’s gone now. RIP.Enzo Calzaghe father and trainer of joe...aged 69
