That's awful news.

He's from just up the road from where I grew up. His father and uncle, both riders, also died in racing accidents in the past. Can't bear to think what this is like for the family.

I think I read that his wife is pregnant, or recently gave birth. I think it's the former. It's so, so sad when that happens.

Ooh no. Remember practising "Gilly Flicks" at school. (Glancing headers off of the temple for the uninitiated). Remember an article in Charles Buchans Football Monthly from c1964 which pointed out that "£72,500 Gilzean was once on Aldershots books while doing his National Service and never got a game."

Several of the prisoners use to frequent the pub then go back to the prison.
