The Case Against Koeman (And Walsh)

Koeman gets a lot of focus, but the biggest thing for me is the apparent disconnect in our transfer dealings over the summer. The fact that Koeman doesn't appear to have the first idea what his best team is, or indeed his best formation, suggests that something wasn't right this summer between Koeman and Walsh. If you're going to have a director of football, then that connection has to be rock solid, and I'm not sure it is at all.
My biggest concern is that not a single player was signed to play the system we implemented last season. We spent 4 months implementing a system at the club no matter the results and then tear it up once the seasons over but not replace it. Its.being said by critics now that you just can't see what koeman is trying to do on the pitch, so there was no plan in the summer, just hope it would work come the start of the season.

Koeman could turn it around next week and we finish 7th again but doesn't change the fact that he takes 3 months to implement a new system every season which will hold us back point wise and essentially hinder any chsnce of being competitive

Keane has been terrific at times and woeful at times. Think once we get another decent CB in and he can forge a partnership he'll be much more solid. Vlasic is quality, technically brilliant and superb attitude, a bit of naivety to his game but that will improve with experience. Sandro... not giving up on him yet. Martina isn't even a footballer. Rooney has been decent. Gylfi has been a shell of his Iceland and Swansea self, hoping it's just a case of being utilised incorrectly. I felt bad for Klassen, but it has to be said his performance against Lyon was very cowardly.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has 'faith' in Steve Walsh to lead player hunt

Allardyce, in fact, was Walsh’s choice for the Everton job from the outset. “I am not going to comment on what Ronald did or didn’t do,” said Allardyce. “What I will comment on is that Steve and I have known each other for a huge amount time and I have every faith in the process we will have and, hopefully, it will be successful.

“We had many conversations together and, when I moved to Newcastle, I needed somebody who would coordinate the whole of that department. I think that has been ongoing in his world ever since with Nigel Pearson at Hull and Leicester, and now here. We know what the process is.

“We have to find the player who is going to be good enough to make Everton better and that is the hardest job in football we have today, believe you me.” Allardyce is assessing which striker to move for in January, but he says there is no particular profile in mind as options are thin.

“It is quite difficult to say I am only looking for this type of striker because we are talking about a small group of players who are good enough to play at this level,” he said.

Monday’s game with Swansea City could feature the return of winger Yannick Bolasie to Everton’s first-team match-day squad after a year out due to a knee injury.

Ross Barkley is also nearing fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem. The England international was the subject of a bid from Chelsea in the summer and they are believed to be lining up a new offer, but Allardyce said there had been no contact with the London club.
