Thanks mate. Surveillance Vans for people watching Telly!!

Are they Police or form the Networks? Or are they another Special Branch of the Armed Forces?

This is hilarious and fascinating.

Okay so how do you Police a share house with Multiple TV's? What if i have 2 TV's and you have one... or worse still, what if I have a TV, and you don't, but your always watching my TV. Do you have to pay a share?

What if you own a TV but don't watch it?

And lastly, what are the penalties for watching TV without a license?

If you have a license, you can have as many TV's as you want at the licensed address. The detector vans have equipment that can pick up signals from your tv. The authorities know if you are watching one. If you don't have a license for that address it can mean a fine of up to £1000. I have to have a licence, which pays for the BBC , even if I don't watch BBC programmes.

Wow, did not know that.

Cheers for the info.

Also, If I don't own a TV but have other things that I can watch Tv programmes on , ie..laptops, phones etc, I would probably still have to have a license. Anything that can receive broadcasts. I know it might sound weird to you, but we just seem to accept it and have gotten used to it

It's currently £145.50 to watch colour tv. £49 for black and white

Nah, you don't have to. I never had one second year of uni because all I used my TV for was to play XBox. Got letters and **** but nothing happened, because I was doing nothing wrong and wasn't tuning in to watch anything. I would only watch things on iplayer after they'd been broadcast and the only other tele I ever watch are TV series from the US on streaming sites (as well as Everton and some other footy on streams like)

Maybe the rules have changed, I'm not sure. I read about a fella who only used his Tv to watch DVD's. They tried to get him on watching BBC DVD's.

When I genuinely forget.. Its Text messages, emails Etc.. [Poor language removed] off will yer.. Hassle the beauts who NEVER pay you instead of getting your figures up by hassling me !!

I missed a payment after asking the bank to cancel some DD payments I no longer need . They also cancelled , in error, my monthly license payment. Two days late, letter and e-mail. Hadn't missed a single payments for god knows how long, too.
