Whilst I must start by saying that Gareth is not a bad player but I strongly believe he is only chosen as RM doesn't trust the back five and has him there just to babysit them.
This worked well last season when it was fresh and new, just like when you were a kid and a decent looker a few years older looked after you. You did what you were told and was trying your best to impress, but alas that looker aged and you had no reason to behave and impress as it appears this season with Barry looking like a lost sheep who whilst working hard, gives up possession too easily and has lost what pace he ever had.
RM appears to want a babysitter but Gareth is no longer that sitter, we most go with McCarthy once fit alongside Besic.
Thank you Barry for an outstanding season last year, but we must move on so this must be your last, oh and please take Distin to the old folks home with you.
