Bit of fight at the end, but that was a woeful effort against a second string aussie attack. The batting was abject but the bowlers weren't good enough either. If you let the opposition make 470 first innings then you have little chance.
Broad and Anderson should not play together anymore. Rotate them the remaining tests. You need a spinner in Australia, so Leach will have to play. You need a quick bowler in Australia.
I would consider Saqib Mahmood for the remaining tests, especially if Wood cannot play all 3 back to back.

But didn't he use Stokes to bowl short with 2 men on the hook for a lot of day 1? You can't really say the bowlers need to bowl fuller and set a leg side field for the top edge.

I would have picked him for the squad in the first place but I would have thought there are enough right arm fast-medium bowlers in the squad already, and he certainly won't strengthen the batting. Didn't manage a wicket in the recent waste of time, one-off England Lions game against Australia A.
