TD and Archie Styles(!) used to drink in a pub near Kensington that sold a really strong ale (Cornbrooks bitter ? )...they could drink A LOT ! I worked with a mate of Terrys name Sid something at the time at Reed Harris (cladding co opposite Meccano.) and we drank with them now and again. I had a flat in Deane Road at the time....this would be the early 70s (I think!)

You weren't on your own leaving mate, there was a coach from Crosby parked behind there end , couple of the lads off it were saying we will stay with you lot because it will be bad outside, we said just go we are in the opposite direction and, a few more will not make a difference, as soon as the gates opened they were off don't blame them one bit.
Very eventful outsiders to say the least, you were better missing the goal mate.;)

I work with his nephew up here, he retired as a plumber 2/3 years ago, he allows a pub near me to display one of his treasures, a swapped Pele shirt from his playing days in the USA, it hangs pride of place in the Victoria Inn,Carronshore.

Went mad when we let Archie styles go with Kendal to get big Bob, though he was a decent player should have given brum a few Bob more than the 80.000 and kept him

Yes that is the way the scoring went, my brain was done in with events of that night, it was also done in a few times with
David Lawson and three or four others goalie's we had around that period, remember James McDonald 'Call me Seamus'
it didn't matter what name he was called, he was rubbish with both names, Dai 'Gummy' Davies, we've had to watch some
cack in our times following the Blues, it does have an effect on your brain cells after a few years.

It was mate. So far out the keeper had loads of time to see it. Little scored about a minute or two later from

Pure Evertonian desire and passion and refusal to give up. I am sure it will appear in the Everton pictures thread soon enough!!!, could have cried for us, could have cried for Lyons...decent team when it played well, did not know how to get over the line when the chips were down. Very very exciting times to follow them home and away though.

One of the best feelings ever when Lyons got that equaliser! Only to be denied again! Everton that.

I was at all of those games including the two prior cup final matches. Don't remember much about them except Brian little. Remember feeling for the Sunderland fans who packed the Park end though . Great support they showed in that match .

The first replay at Hillsborough wasn't too bad, until we came out of the ground and learned Liverpool had scored in the last few minutes against a French team to go through in the European cup, was it St. Ettienne. In the first game at Wembley
nothing happened, nothing at all, the match stunk as did the two teams.
