First met Terry when I was 8 and in Alder Hey having my appendix out. August 78, It was the week Everton beat Wimbledon 8-0 in the cup. His son was on the same ward as me and dad being dad led to Terry spending as much time sat at my bedside, chatting all things Everton with the old man, as he did at his son's. A lovely fella.

My mum used to teach his lads...saw him occasionally at Mass in Lydiate, last saw him at Blackburn Amokachi's debut. He was a Blackburn coach at the time. Just modestly smiled as he went past and saw I had recognised him. I liked him as a player but he was not great. Broke my heart at Old Trafford versus Aston Villa but still think he got a bad call from David Lawson. He should have just cleared it not left it....... First player I ever saw deliberately kick ball out of play and then claim the throw in!!!!

I remember being at that game can't believe it was 39 years ago, If I'd known you were in the hossy I could have organised a minutes applause.

Massive part of my Everton childhood mate, good and bad, just remember as a kid being intrigued by fat old fellas in the crowd calling TD by the names(and others I can't repeatlol) listed in my original postlol, played a big part in our success in the mid 80's with Howard, great Evertonian too:)

You and me both mate:(:)

Terry used to run the pub (Royal Oak) in Flint in North Wales, he was actually a very nice guy and enjoyed talking about the blues.
99% certain he had The Park (?) boozer too (on Rocky Lane opposite the police station)
Was part of our pre match routine for a couple of years way back when.

As a teenager, around 1985-6, Terry lived near us in Sunnymede Drive, Lydiate. His young boy twins were a handful and used to pester us whenever they saw us. When it snowed they pelted me with snowballs and in the ensuing snowball fight I caught one of his lads with a beauty, sending him home crying. Terry popped up as quick as a flash, furious and called me a " long streak of piss".
