Wether the stadium was good or not is neither here or there
Matters quite a bit to me mate and...

Think Everton would have been great for that community, lets hope it is for Walton Hall Park
...although I do agree that it could have had a positive effect on the area it's worth remembering that the local community did campaign against it's construction at the time.

Yep the Stadium looked crap my kids could have designed better.
Yet it could have looked like Wembley and some were hell bent on it not happening.

Comment from the Celtic Huddleboard....

I like Everton , in fact they have always been my favourite English team and i hope they keep up this good work. Perhaps they are going to buck the trend of football clubs becoming nothing more than another business. However, the days of clubs being interested in anything other than profits is long gone.
Celtic are the best example, a club set up to benefit the underprivileged are now run by a group of profit driven Tories with the managing director (the fat [Poor language removed] who repeatedly lies) taking home the largest salary. The days of football clubs, and indeed governments, doing things for the community are not in the interests of a majority of chairmen running clubs throughout the world.
I applaud Everton for taking such steps and hope they continue their good work.

and another from the Huddleboard......

"Quite like Everton, the better of the 2 Liverpool clubs imo"

TBH folks, I was aware of some of the initiatives from the Club in this regard but I had no idea of the extent, and recognition in the Telegraph (albeit a high Tory paper) is something of which we should be proud.

From Naisy, to Stones, to Sharpy, to Roberto and, let's acknowledge it, to Bill as Chair, this is a credit to the management of the club from top to bottom.

Now, let's get things to continue to improve on the pitch !!!

Working in the same community I see the benefits of the work the club does almost daily. Some of the things are truly life changing, and go far above and beyond what you would expect from a football club.

The immense pride I feel as an Evertonian is impossible to put into words really.

NSNO really does still matter at the heart of the club.

Massive congratulations to everyone involved. Each and every one of them are priceless. Worth more than any big signing.

We may be crap at footy but we sure do some boss stuff behind the scenes

We've not sold our souls, unlike certain other clubs.

There's more to a football club than just winning matches.

Liverpool might bear the name of our city, but they don't do 1/100th of the community stuff we do. Their idea of helping the local area is to destroy communities, compulsory purchasing houses street by street, to then purposely run down to force out remaining residents, before knocking the whole lot down to build a slightly bigger ground, so that they can make more money from tourists.
