On reflection, I reckon Woy took so many of the RS to the Euro's so they couldn't get a game at the Olympics. Nice one Roy...

I'm glad there are no Northern Irish, btw. Given that it's not in Great Britain.

Well in, Pearce, you pedantic geography nerd.

I'm also glad there's no scots. Because they're terrible at football.

J Allen (Swansea), C Bellamy (Liverpool), R Bertrand (Chelsea), J Butland (Birmingham), S Caulker (Tottenham), T Cleverley (Manchester United), J Cork (Southampton), C Dawson (West Brom), R Giggs (Manchester United), A Ramsey (Arsenal), M Richards (Manchester City), D Rose (Tottenham), S Sinclair (Swansea), M Sordell (Bolton), J Steele (Middlesbrough), D Sturridge (Chelsea), N Taylor (Swansea), J Tomkins (West Ham)

the actual squad, a lot worse than the one posted before

Butland
Richards Tomkins Caulker Taylor/Bertrand
Allen Cleverley
Ramsey
Bellamy Giggs
Sturridge

will play nice footy but defence will be fairly weak, although he's not great ferdinand's experience would have been preferable over richards if i was the captain. Also i'd probs choose sinclair over giggs but as he's one of the overage players i'm guessing he will start

___________Butland
Richards Dawson Tomkins Taylor
___Ramsey Cleverley Giggs
Sturridge ______________Sinclair
___________Bellamy

Subs: Steele, Caulker, Cork, Rose, Bertrand, Allen, Sordell

I'm presuming that the Scottish and Northern Irish FA's said that they didn't want their players involved and that Butland was given dispensation to link up with the squad because he's hardly played much football. Smalling is likely to be injured or Fergie has requested that he's not involved I gather.

It's not a bad side but it's not the best either. There isn't a lot of top-flight experience between Butland, Caulker, Tomkins and Dawson. Maybe Pearce will use Richards in the middle and Cork at right back? The midfield is alright but there is no obvious candidate for the right of midfield. I'd still rather see Beckham there and omit Giggs in favour of Ramsey and Cleverley in the middle or even Albrighton from Villa. It's a bit of a concern too that he doesn't seem to have any defensively-minded midfielders in the squad. I'd have thought that someone like Spearing, Shelvey or Frimpong would offer better balance. He has three players who can play left back (Taylor, Rose and Bertrand) in the squad as well but no out and out strikers. If Bellamy's 32 year old legs suffer a strain while trying to outpace a defender, it's a lot to ask Sturridge or Sordell to lead the line. And what options has he left himself to change the game from the bench?

Not with Pearce in charge they wont, hes a grade A long ball merchant, the amout of route 1 the under 21's played at the last tournament would have made jags jizz his kecks

looking forward to seeing players like clyne and zaha.

You'll have to come to Selhurst then! (although you'll need to be quick, Clyne will be off in a couple of days and sure to be seen at Goodison at least once this season!) Gutted for Zaha, he is a really good lad as well as an unbelieveable prospect, I think he's pretty disapointed to be left out, however, for purely Palace reasons, I'm delighted, he won't spend his time on the bench and get injured as a last minute sub against Uruguay and be out for 6 months.

Clyne is out of contract and we have had several offers for a deal before he becomes a free agent. We only get a compensation payment otherwise. Both Man.Utd and the Barcodes have been in negotiation for his services allegedly.
Bolton and Wolves bid for Zaha in the January window and Reading and the Barcodes have been having a look recently. He is not yet the finished article, particularly his decision making on the final ball, but my god! what skills the boy has. If either of them had to go anywhere at all Goodison would be my preferred destination for both. Quite why you've not been in for Clyne I've no idea. (No offence Hibbo!).

agreed, he is the perfect fit, young, free and really good. Moyes could also groom him in with neville's influence if his age is a problem. Agreed on zaha not being the finished article, then again if he was at his age he would be rated highly like the balotelli's and such
