Player Valuation: £8m
So we lose Yak and Timmy steps up to the plate helped on by young Danny occasionally...

Then we lose Mikel and Stevie fills the gap - witness today's performance, he was everywhere.

Now we've lost Jags and Joey does the business.

And the thing I like best is that these players who have done what has been asked of them do it their way. Timmy is no Yakubu, SP is very different to Arteta and Joey needs to curb his hoofball...

But they do what's necessary. Says everything for what Moyes has achieved. The players all know their jobs and also know they can go out on the field and shine in their particular role.

What a leader DM is...

Once again Treb, the head of the nail has been struck.

he's got red hair, and we don't care..............................................................................

The team spirit at Everton is the best in the land. It's a huge testament to Moyes and the work he's done at the club, and I firmly believe that it's a large consequence of having relatively small transfer funds so he's been extra diligent in getting in the right characters as well as the right footballers.

Posted via Mobile Device Spot on Bruce. Other things to add to his man managment skill's ~ Smallest squad in the prem, injuries to key players since before xmas, and hardly any funds like you say yet he's got us into a cup final and 6th in the league at the least. Moyes has got to be manager of the year, there's no two ways about it, to use a boxing phrase, pound for pound he's the best in the buisness and we should all feel damn lucky that we've got him.

To my mind that is Moyes' , and defo this side's legacy . The superb , irrepressible team ethos . The change in Arteta of the past couple of years is microcosmic ( man ) of the whole situation .
I fukn love this team , and this is the reason why . All for one , indeed , my bretheren .

completely with the comments already posted, moyes does a superb job of getting far more out of whatever team takes the field than is warranted by the individual talents at his disposal.

So true. DM gets the mix right, and its the mark of a great manager.

When we dont get a good fit, better off letting the player go (refer to AVDM?) Keeping the balance right must be awfully difficult too.

I've always thought that one of the traits of great managers is when your team gives it all when their is really nothing to play for. Watching that match it looked like Everton was the team that was fighting to stay up.

There's no early summer breaks like there is at for example Spurs when their place is set. There is no fielding of reserve teams when youre 2-0 down in the UEFA cup tie. The club never cheats their supporters.

normally i would say that we lack depth in contrast to other top half teams, but i don't think any other team would finish anywhere near where we're going to without their best striker, best midfielder, and best defender for this strong, not to mention a long period of no strikers, and injuries to other strong important players (pienaar, yobo, saha, vaughan, anichebe) all mixed in.

spirit is what is carrying us forward this season, we shall not be moved.
