Snotted the mainstream Republican candidates in the primaries.

That'll be Obama in for a second term then. The Democrats will be facing loony right wing bastards who'll have pushed the GOP toward being unelectable.

Yay Palin. (y)

This is exactly right. Best news for the Dems is for the Tea Party candidates to push the Republicans to the right it will create an opportunity for Obama to move to the center and take the high ground of American politics - the center. Neither party seems to get this. This is not a liberal or conservative country - it's a centrist country. Move too far one way or the other and you get the smack down from the voters.

How about a chicken soup party?

Keep it going, Tea Partiers. Good work.

They make the GOP look liberal.

The farther right they go, the more silly they become.

Viva Tea Party.

I'm thinking of donating...they are completely destroying whatever moderate Republicans there are left in this country.

Neo-Cons ,...

Tellin' Ya' ,..

Taps nose ,...

( That paper Ronnie's signing says , .." I hereby allow the Neo-Cons to RULE THE FUKN WORLD an' have pictures of ya' Mar in the bath ,.." Yitzhak , there , behind him , is just making sure the last bit is in there ,...)

It's funny. I mean this talk about America being a centrist country, the whole tea party thing of low tax, individual liberty etc. used to be exactly what America was about. That such a grass roots political movement has formed can only be a good thing in a democracy so often monopolised by two parties. If you look at the Contract for America thing they've put together, many of it seems sensible, such as ensuring laws follow the constitution, making sure budgets balance, simplifying the tax system, giving people as much of their own money to spend how they please, and so on.

Suffice to say it isn't a party in the traditional sense, and such loose organisational structure has attracted some dubious chancers such as Sarah Palin but it will be fascinating to see how it plays out. I for one hope that it reminds America a little of its founding principles and of the traits that made it such a wonderful nation.

Bruce, don't delude yourself into thinking most of these people are reasonable, thoughtful people. Some of them are, for sure. But they are not in the mainstream of American politics or thought. Sarah Palin isn't the exception to the rule, she's the spiritual leader of this movement. The guy who lost in Delaware last night, was a decent, moderate Republican who spend his entire adult life serving the people of that state. He lost to a whack job who spent her entire as an anti-sex and anti-masturbation activist, with a history of financial issues. She is also on record as saying the following:

"Well, creationism, in essence, is believing that the world began as the Bible in Genesis says, that God created the Earth in six days, six 24-hour periods. And there is just as much, if not more, evidence supporting that."
