You're right in footballing terms he was probably allowed to stay a little too long but that's Everton and it was probably a thank you for saving us almost single handed from relegation, he played out of his skin for us and was far better than I remember him at his previous club's.
A great welcome should always be afforded him at this club as without him had we been relegated we would not be in the great position we now find ourselves.

I think I'm right in saying he did pretty well for Arsenal. Found it hard to break into the side there because Alan Smith and Merson were ahead of him, but he played in the last 10 games of their title win in 1991 and scored 8 goals. Shows how good he was. Then they signed Ian Wright which is probably why he ended up leaving.

What a great ambassador for the club . How many ex players have Everton got in a paid ambassador role ?

His interaction with the fans on social media is so uplifting. Cottee was my teenage hero but Super Kev saved this club and it's great to see him embrace the fact .
