There's plenty more through out the set ups, without watching the teams every week the names aren't familiar to us. But even still for only 2 and a bit years there's been plenty. Not to mention how far superior he is at getting loans for our lads

you're doing the likes of sheedy a massive dis-service

I'm honestly not trying to pick a fight but....."he's the one who set up the structure of it"

He really isn't, we have a whole academy structure that is separate to the first team manager. Alan Irvine set up the structure. The two post holders since then have carried on.

I know Roberto has often spoken positively about the youth teams but I don't think it is fair to people like Irvine who put the work in establishing the Finch Farm project and the schoolboy recruitment teams who have build up the teams (most of the current U18 team were recruited at the ages 6-12) to give a recent first team manager credit for their progress.

Spot on about Irvine mate but I think it's always important to acknowledge the man at the helm has a part to play in the development.

As fans there seems to be a clear path for players that we can see, they get to the u21, they go on loan, they will come back and hopefully get a chance.

I'm not knocking Irvine there, just highlighting it's good to have the likes of Martinez, Royle and Unsworth all singing from the same hymn sheet. Sheedy mentioned it previously that Moyes didn't give a flying one about the kids where as there seems to be some kind of plan at least to try and get the kids up through the ranks and hopefully onto the first team.

Loads won't make it, but of we can find 2 or 3 every couple of years knocking on the door then that's a massive bonus.

Especially when there are other managers who clearly don't care about their acadamies one bit - for all his talk that second time around he'd develop players Mourinho barely played any, banned the kids from the club pool and even stripped the academy coaches from wearing their initials on their clothes to maintain some sort of stupid status symbol for the first team coaches.

Aye LL that's when even when his name is mentioned (and we are talking about one of the most successful managers in the game) I just wouldn't be enthusiastic about him.

Saying that though, I think he's took a bit of a beating image wise and folk also doubting his ability as a coach. Could he/would he come to Everton and change his ways regarding things like that?

Hypothetical of course and probably people would laugh at me for saying "erm I don't think he's a good manager". Happy to see him popcorn the RS all day long but not convinced he's the type of man who would serve us well.

Think Mourinho is a superb coach for players aged 22 and older but so demanding, both physically and emotionally, that they burn out quickly - hence he doesn't stay anywhere past 2 or 3 years. Often leaves the club off pitch in an acrimonious way as well, too many fraught nerves and damaged egos that the following coach needs to massage.

Don't think he has the patience for players younger than 22, as they are far too raw unless someone else has given them a lot of games at a decent level - if Stones had been from his own academy he wouldn't have played him.

hardly when about 5 meet the criteria, not 'dozens'

We have some talented lads in this side. Davies and Dowell stood out for me, but then you have some other impressive performers Rodriguez, for me, could make the jump and replace Kone. Was let down massively by the defence last night. Galloway didn't look arsed.

Lads out on loan came back and Byrne fit then this side would compete for 1st in that division. 2 professionals and a very very talented keeper made the difference
