We do, but I feel we relied too much on the young lads last season, mainly because in the first half of the season, the older heads were terrible.

Look at the 2 that have got the most stick...Rom & Ross. They should not be carrying the burden.

The solution should not be....lets get more youngsters in the team.
When we all know it was the comical defending from our experienced back 4, Barry and Howard that was the real issue last season.

By the time they had sorted themselves out and actually got up to fitness our season was practically over.

Fair play mate, but the 'Oldies' were there like, throwing more in the mix may not help, especially when most of the issues seemed to be motivation imo.
And as an aside mate, I wasn't suggesting getting a young (<24yo)winger straight into the team, I was talking about the squad, to cover for Kev and Del, which should provide adequate game time.

RM quote on CB signing , says they need to perform straight away.

Martinez is keen to buy a defender at the “peak of his powers” in order to turn up the heat on Jagielka and Stones next term.

“What we are looking for is for someone who can perform straight away,” Martinez said.

“I feel we have two young players who, with a good programme, can develop into two very important players in that position but we do need someone who can come in and play straight away.

“Now, that’s a certain age, being at the peak of his powers. That’s what we need. In terms of personality and character, we have shown that in those tough periods we had to go through.

“We have got a very strong team in terms of personality, that is not something we are missing. It is about bringing in players who can compete for positions and be at the best moment of their careers.”

I imagine the same as what's quoted for Dann. Juve don't need to sell.

I think that one is a bit different

Player wants to leave and agent trying to get him a move

Villa, Southampton, West Ham, Liverpool and ourselves all linked in the last week or two

Even quoting a fee of between 7m and 10m euros

Some jarg sources in there, but it smacks to me of his agents(s) offering him all over the place in a bid to get him a move.

Worth remembering that he's another one Moyes tried to buy going back a few years...

The age of our squad was a bit distorted with Distin, Pienaar, Alcaraz and even Kone, on or around the bench but not playing.

I want much more from that back 6 from the word go next season. Over 255 International caps between them.
