Summer transfer window 2023

Apparently suffered a very rare and nagging injury which kept him out for a lengthy portion of time last season which is a little disconcerting especially with Everton's past and current injury crisises
Apparently very rare muscle injury that a top specialist finally cleared up

Davie Weir rates him very highly and I take it the 2 lads that have joined us from Brightons recruitment team also do.

I'm not sure if you are aware of our predicament atm.

This lad is maturing into a very good Centre mid , possibly the next 3/4 years will see him even better.

If he was rated so highly by Brighton then why was he loaned to Liege? Why are they making him available for a loan when Maupay went for £12mil at the same stage of his contract?

Both teams that are better than Everton at the moment, by some margin and at Burnley who got relegated he scored 9 goals, higher than all of our players last year.

He performed for 3-4months.

Funny that Lyon gave him about 200 games and have been crap since he left given he was such an horrific player..

How can you suggest Cornet wasn’t good enough for Lyon when he played about 200 times for them?

Because i saw him play and as i said when we were linked before hes awful. Hes proven that the past 18months.

Each are deserving of their opinion but kind of on the other end on this one. Personally I have doubts on Beto, but beyond that think its a pretty gross overestimation of a deal. There are younger, more productive higher ceiling strikers across europe going for basically the same price, maybe a bit more.

Which young strikers?

In principle agree. I'm not too keen on Cornet ( although I'm not as opposed as Zat ) but £12 m seems way too high. Loan with an option. Wham will be desperate to move him on.

A loan with option to have him as back up to Mykolenko which puts Young on the bench with him is the only sense it would make.

Then bin him off next summer if we really must sign the donkey.

Hojberg would be class.

He would.

He's from North London and he's not very good

It makes no sense to me.

The injury is a concern but those who are suggesting that Cornet isn't a player of the same standard as McNeil or Harrison are just being silly. He's alright. Whether he can help us stay up, who knows?

Why is that silly? I dont even rate Harrison but hes 5× the player.

ANother we deemed not good enough on here

I wanted him :)

Everton came into this window with essentially no budget but lots of needs as the team was weak almost everywhere important. He therefore had little margin for error. Thelwell has added three players with PL experience for effectively no money, raised a few £ selling kids & the Stones bonus and taken a punt on two Euro strikers, one somewhat established and one a developmental invesTrent, with almost zero upfront cash but slightly inflated full fees to work with almost no cash. We simply could not go for players where clubs wanted real cash up front which limited our options.

The biggest criticism is that we are struggling to shift high wage dross to create wage room for another loan but that kind of deal always tends to go the wire so we cannot say he has failed until the window fully closes (including Turkey mid September).

We are not in the position Forest are in where they can stump up cash upfront to buy a dozen mid price guys and hope a couple work. Nor can we take the risks Brighton and Brentford did a few years ago grabbing cheap youngsters from minor leagues/smaller teams and slowly developing them given we need immediate impact.

On paper Thelwell has done a decent job walking his very narrow line and still has 55+ hours left to improve on the job so far.

On the pitch we remain a mess and desperately need everyone fit, with DCL, McNeil, Danjuma, Harrison & the new Euro strikers bagging goals.

If he can shift the deadwood and make the Iwobi and Gray sales + 1 more young signing signed he'll have done well.

Well United are going for Amrabat. So Hojberg can either come to us or sit in the spurs reserves. Let Gana head off to Saudi

Would be ace.

In the last twelve months we have signed Garner, McNeill, Onana, Chermiti and Beto who are all 25 or under.

That doesn't sound short term.

Under financial constraints he'll have done well. The real battle begins next summer when were losing a huge amount of players.

Cheeky bid for Cole Palmer would be nice

loan with option to buy would suit all parties

City looking at £45mill at least from Chelsea surprised they are even considering letting him go

Guardiola said he'll either stay or be sold. No loan...

Because he is what he is: a perfectly average footballer who may do a decent job. He's not five times better or five times worse than anybody who plays for us. Anyway, the main thing is to keep an open mind and give him the chance he deserves when he gets here. Because I think he is coming

Apparently we’re in talks for Wharton from Blackburn

I imagine we are confident of getting rid of gbamin and or Gomes before the window shuts then, I know we wouldn’t want to play either of them but technically they are still midfielders who are at the club, getting paid and never playing. I feel like if we are not getting rid of them the Attacking Midfield, Winger and Fullback areas are lighter than CM.

However we also have brought in Danjuma and Harrison both on loans and most likely will be our starting wide players.
So 2 of our likely 3 forwards are shirt term.
Then Young as a utility who is also starting.
That is pretty short term.
3 players who as it stands, won't be here next seasons, who are most likely gonna be starters.

Chermiti is a hit and hope. He won't start many matches if at all for a while.
Onana I honestly believe he was bought for one reason only. Trade value.
