Excellent in a deep defence...not good when playing a high line.

As i said before, could be good on a years loan if we could sell Keane and Holgate.

I’m not sure what you are getting at. man utd spent more than double what they should have on Wan Bissaka, so that’s a similarity. “Excellent” in a deep defence is a stretch, Keane can do that so it makes no sense to me spending even more wages and not solving any issue.
I’d honestly rather develop Branthwaite than have Maguire on insane wages.

Put Maguire in a deeper defensive line and he's a decent player. He's also one of the best players in the league aerially and his distribution is another level to any other defender we have.

Having said that, he's dead slow and earns about twice what our next highest earner gets.

His slowness of thought and movement meaning that he gets caught in possession and out of position renders meaningless any attributes to a top half table team.

We could get Maguire for much less than that.

Utd will make up the difference in the wages, or pay him off. You could probably get his wages at a decent rate.
This is one where clubs could be smart and go, for 2 years we will give you £50k weekly. Knowing full well if utd are forcing him out, for 2 years they will have to make it up. Then a 3rd year at a higher wage, depending on conditions.

I hope we don't go anywhere near him, but played right, its not the worst deal.

Don't see why he couldn't be on the bench against Fulham if all goes well. Especially if he gets a few more minutes against Sporting.

Oh Branthwaite and Tarkowski all day for me

Im just saying that due to Uniteds system i think these two would look far more effective in a team playing a deeper defence.

Keane also of course who is still levels below Maguire.

I think Branthwaite will be competing with Colwill soon enough for a starting spot for England...but due to his height may even be the central of a 3.

He started and played 45 mins today. If he doesn't get injured he will at a minimum be in the squad for Fulham.

Hes not had mins in the preseason games so i wonder why he would have 6 shirt rather than his usual number?

Yeah the only 3 I could think of was him, Godfrey and Welsh. Now I don’t know if it’s just a photo shoot, that it really doesn’t matter what the number it is if the picture is just from the front. But I don’t know.
