Summer transfer window 2023

Aaron Cresswell wouldn't be a bad pick up on free. Quite telling at crucial point of the season Moyes turned to him and he came in and put in 4-5 reliable performances which helped West Ham get the clean sheets they needed to stay up.

Also from this part of the World so might want to come back after spending last decade down south.

No thanks a reserve at West Ham turning 34.

Wasn't he a target last summer? Not sure why move wasn't made then? Problem here is his style is pretty much ideal for Brentford with way they play and they now have a void at CF for six months and Toney will probably leave next summer regardless so that would be a very tempting move for him as they only finished 2 points off 7th in the end.
We need to market to him as him being our first choice striker, not just back up for a fan favourite who is currently banned.

I hope there will be funds, but expect either Pickford or Onana to be sold either way.

I wonder if there is any external pressure from the PL to make another fairly large pre-emptive sale before we start buying anyone. The PL may be playing both sides here, on a good cop, bad cop basis.

I'll be fuming if we don't use our loan quota effectively this year, we have to be looking at players that can come straight in and play 30+ games.

There always has to be creativity for a club in Evertons position and it applies now more than ever.

We need a lot more players than we can realistically afford, or have the legroom for to keep within the regulations.

Everything has to be centred around adding goals to the team. Everything else is a secondary concern.

The ability to improve from such a desperately low base is a plus for us. We simply cannot struggle again for goals in the manner we have.

I don't envy Dyche's task though. Not sure at all about Thelwell based on last season.

Forwards is a tricky one if DCL stays - they aren't going to start if he is fit (since I doubt we could afford anyone who is obviously better than him) but if he isn't they have to be better than Simms will be. If Juve do welch out of the Kean deal then I really think we should just keep Moise around and spend what little money we have elsewhere (fullback certainly).
We need to replace DCL. You cannot rely on his fitness. I have no problem keeping Dom but to me he is either a squad option going forward pr we should sell if there is a good offer.

We need good 3 strikers at the club. Dom can absolutely be one of them but can't be the main no.9 going forward

What I don't get is how loads are saying move on onana cos he's not good enough but then say we'll get a massive wedge for him. Surely if he isn't good enough nobody would pay a massive wedge for him?
There’s a tonne of raw potential there, and I think he’d maybe thrive more at a bigger club where he can do one specific job (be a ball winning beast) and get it to more creative players, rather than with us where there are few creative players to get it to, so we get frustrated by his lack of creativity. But I still think he’s going to the top.

Issue this summer is there’s a flood of different midfielders likely to be on the market (Rice, Caicedo, MacAllister, Maddison, Tielemans, Ward-Prowse just from the PL) so for the big clubs there is plenty of supply, although Onana maybe offers something a bit different to most of those. We might not get enough this summer to be worth selling though so hopefully our transfer budget doesn’t depend on it.

Can we play fantasy football now master mccole?
permission.webp

Kean to Juve has already been confirmed I think.
