I actually thing he will go for more than 30. I would have took that in jan, but to be fair to him he finished the season really well and has been excellent in the Afcon. I’m thinking 35min

Bit of a left field replacement weigl from Dortmund, I’ve read that they were looking to sell, maybe lost his way a bit, but is a very good player and is a specialist number 6.
He looked superb a couple of seasons back when still a teenager, I think. One of those players you see and think wow. Only watched champions league stuff and don't watch much footy unless its us but always like to spot a player at another club and we sign them. Last one was Bracewell

Torreira came off a full season, the world cup, into a team in transition with a new manager and was hot/cold in a new league.

He's a FAR FAR FAR better player than Gana.

This season he'll be ridiculously good. Id swap them in a heartbeat.

Now, as for our own players...

Sigurdsson is a shoe in and i think the majority of posters would agree that he isnt great at CM. He will stay in a somewhat '2nd striker' position.

That leaves us with Gomes and ANother in central midfield.

I really cant see us going for another Gana 'type'.

My view is that there will be 2 types of player we will go for:

1 -- Someone like a Schneiderlin (perhaps Sosa arrives) with top potential. That player can work in our current system and in a 433 system as we evolve.

2 -- A box to box player who is someone like a Sangare (massive) who can also fit into a 433 seamlessly.

I actually think we would sign both of these types if Gana was sold. Dare i say Sosa and Sangare.

Absolutely not. Gueye is the better player matey

1 -- Hes 30 in september. Last chance for a payday

2 -- We need to rebuild the squad and a large fee for someone can go a long way.

3 -- He doesnt suit a 433 system

4 -- There are better, younger players out there

5 -- What have we achieved in midfield with him?

Id MUCH rather we had a great all rounder like Neves at Wolves or a monster like Sangare at Toulouse.

I want to see improvement.

Sangare looks brilliant stats wise, if we could get £40m for Gana and about £15 for Schniederlin and £10m for Mccarthy and sign Sangare £30m and Delph £16m, I think we would have a good mix of youth and experience, whilst still lowering the wage bill and have funds left over to put towards other positions. That's a lot of work for Brands to get done though

The problem is you can't think exclusively long term. I advocate for trying out the young players for no real reason other than seeing what they have all the time. I want to see the club purchase players with long term ability to grow. But at the same time we can't totally torpedo the team we are going to put on the field this season and that's what I think this would be. The entire system out of possession functions because of Gana. Losing him means a new system has to be developed just to get by. Maybe in time it could be better but to start next year we would be learning all over again and throw away the chance at continuity from last year that we have because we brought Gomes back. Last year Gana started 33 games. We shipped 13 goals in the other 5 and two were against Huddersfield. We would have a problem if he left.
We only conceded 1 goal v huddersfield last season.

Wouldnt go for Delph...Sangare + Sosa i think...

Zat, players don't stop being good players just because they hit an arbitrary age. He was one of our best players last season by a mile

Yes they do...and no he wasnt.

Based on the Joyce article it sounds like we’ve just told Leipzig to stop fart arsing about and pay what we want or walk away. He’ll go and I have no problem with that. Pointless having a player regardless of his potential if the manager isn’t playing him. Other than potential we may never see we lose nothing.
Gana on the other hand is one of the first names on our team sheet. His worth to us and the cost to replace him makes PSGs reported bid laughable. He’ll probably go too but it’ll be on our terms.

Not similar at all. The RS lose their best players to top teams. They don't sell when a player that works in their system reaches 29. They have Jordan Henderson at 29, had him for 7 years or so and there are no rumbles about him going anywhere or being replaced because he's integral to their system and they want to win things.

Ha, Ermmm, there's many reasons why nobody is trying to buy Jordan Henderson and its not because he fits Liverpool system.
