Yeah, that'd be amazing growth. But is it realistic? To expect him to essentially double his output?

Also, top scorer in the league got 22 but that's the fewest goals for the league's top scorer in almost a decade. The average for the league's top scorer over the last decade is 27.

As a bare minimum, a starting CF at a top six club needs to clear 15 league goals (unless there is a significant contribution of goals from out wide and / or midfield)

In other words, unless DCL can smash 15 league goals in next season (or we trust Richarlison, Sigurdsson and Bernard to contribute 40 goals between them) then we'll need a new centre forward that is capable of those numbers.

That's not a dig at DCL by the way, I just don't think he can do that.

Do you think if he plays the number of minutes commensurate with being a leading striker he could score 15 league goals?

If he added 5 goals to his tally of 6 league goals last season, he'd be scoring at the same rate as Rondon and Mitrovic did last season.

Unless Richarlison and Bernard can get 30 goals between them, that's still not good enough for me.

Need at least 12-15 from your striker To have any sort of realistic chance to finish too 6.

Can I just remind everyone, that at this point last summer, this exact date, we agreed a fee with Watford for Richarlison, who was our FIRST signing that summer. We are 3 ahead already of that

This is what gets me about the internet age of football, everyone has a need to know what’s going on every damn second of the day to satisfy, long gone are the days of not even hearing a sniff about a deal till the day before when it gets reported then boom it’s done

Really surprised that so many people's heads are falling off. We've signed 3 players, one of whom is a new addition to the first team squad.

Of the teams that finished above and are vaguely within reach (i.e. not Liverpool and City), only United have improved.
- Chelsea signed Kovacic and Pulisic (but lost Hazard ffs)
- Spurs have signed a 17 year old and an 18 year old
- Arsenal have signed an 18 year old
- United have done a fair bit of business and will be stronger
- Wolves have signed two players that were on loan at the club last season and two youngsters

People need to calm down, absolute madness some of the crap dave and others are spewing

AND a club-record £60m Ndombele. But other than that... yes agree with you. No point anyone judging a transer window until the day after it closes... or probably longer when you consider we will be able to ship players out well beyond that to European/worldwide clubs.

We like to piss the bed and think we can perform better than professionals. God bless us.

No, I don't I'm afraid. You could apply the same logic to Tosun.

Tosun averaged a goal or assist every 175 minutes in his 1226 minutes last season. DCL averaged a goal or assist every 179 minutes in his 1974 minutes last season.

I don't think either are particularly good enough for where we aspire to be. They are possibly good enough for where we are now. DCL will improve as he matures (though it's important to forget, he's not a kid anymore - he's 23 this season) but I don't believe it's realistic to expect him to double his output.

If you compare them with the likes of Chicharito (G/A every 143 mins), Andre Gray (G/A every 138 mins) and Danny Ings (G/A every 159 mins) who all played fewer minutes too, and none of whom are good enough for where we aspire to be either.

Stop it with your logic.
