It's irrelevant if we wanted bony or not. They have waited till bony deal is confirmed before allowing llorente to leave. There are very few Everton fans in agreement that lukaku should have been sold without an adequate replacement lined up.
Additionally they have replaced their best player and what a signing Sanches is for them. As it stands we haven't replaced a 25 goal a season striker, despite the wishes of the manager making it a priority.
