I agree full well that this last bit is ridiculous in terms of a striker. I really do think we were holding out for Giroud and it is only in the last few days that he's definitely ruled out a move away from Arsenal.

But our business in general has been very good and got done early, even if a few will take a bit of time to settle.

No way. Giroud has clearly been off the table for at least a month now. Some decent journos even mentioned that while we had interest, they were never sure it was ever a realistic proposition.

Sandro has been out injured and will take time to settle. Rooney's versatility means he'll play anywhere.

Using that logic I should start a story saying we are trying to sign Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo and Bale and that would make us possibly the biggest club in the world.
