Its got nothing to do with the board, it's got more to do with there being better more glamorous options elsewhere.

It's nice how you mention the players you want to support your post, but completely forget about Robinho, Zola, Petit etc....

It IS to do with the board though. We can go back and forth all day but after breaking everything down its about cash. Money attracts bigger names. Money will buy you bigger names. Unfortunately it's as simple as that.

Garbutt can play LB, not ideal I'll admit but he's still there.

We've got Lennon, Mirallas and Lookman for the wings.

Sandro is an out and out CF imo. He can certainly play there.

Im still hoping for several players tonight but it's not quite the nightmare scenario you've painted.

It's hardly progression though is it mate? Be realistic.

if we go into the season with Garbutt who could not even get a game with Wigan and Williams and Jags as the only potential partners to Keane, it's not really that impressive.

I appreciate the need to not be too pessimistic but you do need to actually improve to progress.

When ia Funes fit again? He did a good job playing as a a Striker against 10 man Chelsea at stamford bridge back when Bobby was manager. Could be an option? Would actually make the Sigurdsson signing worthwhile

Good for Olympiakos, only played 3 games for Fulham which is strange considering he's well known for being their worst signing ever.

I haven't got a problem with Perez as a player. Was quite happy for him to come last year as a back up to Rom but wouldn't be happy with him as his replacement. He is also similar to Sandro in what he brings.

I was actually quite impressed with what little I saw of him at Arsenal last season, but still don't think he is what we need. I can understand going for a loan if we are unable to bring in what we need on a permanent before todays deadline, but would prefer somebody who is more of a target man. But at least he is an extra body and is a better footballer than some of the names being mentioned.

With Llorente looking like he's going to Spurs I'd be all over Janssen. Was upset when he joined Spurs last year and is a proper target man, can score goals and has good build up play. Plus he's still only 23 and will only improve. Far better player than he showed at Spurs last year.
