As a fellow Yank, just no. If Wood came to the Premier League, it would be for a Watford like club. Maybe Swansea and their owners will splurge if they ever take the money for Sigurdsson.
Other than Pulisic and maybe John Brooks. Which would work if Mori was swapped out so people could have a new left footed, athletic but erratic Western Hemisphere CB to boo. There isn't really an American who fits what is trying to be done here. I guess trying to convince Josh Sargent to join Unsworth's U23s over some German side would work too.

I like Kellyn Acosta myself.

....it's Friday morning and here's the rumour round-up;

- FootballLondon website quote Everton Manager, Ronald Koeman, saying Ross Barkley will not be allowed to go on the cheap: "We have the experience of knowing what we pay for players who have one year on their contract and come here. If there is a club waiting until the last day and think we put some money on the table and we get Ross Barkley, sorry they do not get Ross Barkley".

- According to Sky Italia, Napoli have cut the asking price for striker Duvan Zapata after Everton baulked at the 30m Euro price tag earlier this summer.

- The Express says Celtic are bracing themselves for interest in midfielder Stuart Armstrong. Southampton are readying a £3m bid and Everton are reportedly one of the other clubs looking at the player.

- Talking to WalesonLine, Swansea manager Paul Clement says Gylfi Sigurdsson's move to Everton is likely to happen but striker Fernando Llorente will be staying.

- The Daily Mail report Everton have renewed their interest in Fiorentina striker, Nikola Kalinic. The player was a complete flop at Blackburn but his ability to hold the ball up and his strength in the air appeal to the Toffee's who could get the player for £23m.

- According to TalkSport, Everton, Crystal Palace and West Brom are keen on Barcelona's veteran defender Thomas Vermaelen.

Think the negativity against kalinic is a bit short sighted. Blackburn were absolutely woeful when he was with them. Plus he was a kid then. Lots of young players don't settle then go elsewhere and shine e.g suso to name one. If the price quoted is accurate he's an interesting if not jaw dropping option. He's only played 300+ games so won't be burned out. He scores 1 in 3 ish average, if he can do that for us and provide a focal point for our other attackers then he's decent.

Seen a bit of Kalinic at Fiorentina - he's a decent player, but nothing more than that. Nowhere near the quality we need if we're aiming to challenge the teams above us.

Go get Tierney from Celtic, finally sort out the Sigurdsson deal, actually make Arsenal and Giroud a proper offer and force the issue, and sign a centre back who is good enough that it will mean Jags and Williams sit on the bench

..with Kalinic we have to think if he has the skill set that Everton needs. We need a focal point that Rooney, Sandro and hopefully Sigurdsson can link with. Somebody on the same wavelength as those players, good back to goal technique and decent in the air.

I've only seen the YouTube clips but he looks technically efficient.
