Summer Transfer Window 2017

tbf, a lot of davek's stuff is utter nonsense but that logic in regards to spending is correct. Net spend could be seen as a measure of Moshiri (for the record, I think he is doing fantastic stuff for the club), Purchases is a measure of what Koeman and Walsh should be judged on.

If guys like Niasse aren't good enough, if Delefeou isn't good enough, if allowing Lukaku to leave, if scaring Barkley to leave, if Lennon is allowed to leave and not be in the first team then damn right Koeman should be judged on his replacements.

Last year he sold Stones who has proven to be a potato and was a liability here, he brought in Bolasie who was quality til' he got injured and he brought in Williams who has been rubbish. He then brought in Lookman (who has made good progress and has supporters buzzing) and Schneiderlin who is one of our most important players already.

What Koeman cannot do is go down the path of AVB and waste what money he has been given (i.e the Bale money), which is why he should be assessed on what he buys with whatever he is given.

Disagree. He's judged on the performance of the team. Period. He doesn't buy anyone. If Walsh can't get him adequate talent to replace Lukaku and whoever else, that's not on Koeman. Now, if Koeman told him buy Pickford, Keane, Klassen, and Walsh agreed and bought them, then yes, that's on Koeman if he can't get them playing at a high level. I'm sure Koeman is telling Walsh what he needs and Walsh is trying to satisfy those needs (as well as plan for the future and many other duties).

Now I think it's fairly obvious who Koeman and Walsh have gone after. If we get another 3-4 in and they are a combination of the players we've been hearing about, then yeah, I'd say much of it is on Koeman.

The only thing is with that is you can end up making excuses every summer for a manager which can be reasonable but there's got to be an end point. Better to declare what your GETDAHELLOUTMYCLUB breaking point is rather than giving excuses for us possibly being crap or average next season.
Because things can only ever be black or white? Can't people take a range of factors into account before making important decisions?

Williams was our most consistent defender and the only addition to a team that conceded 11 less than the previous year but ok rubbish
I'd put conceading 11 less, to a change in style of play and the fact that we had 1 boss CM and another start in January. Williams was good at times but horrific at other times to the point where he ended up blaming Baines and Mirallas for mistakes. He is to slow.

I don't really remember him being horrific but maybe that has to do with his partner giving away 4 or 5 penalties or making silly mistakes in possession all the time. We've looked to bring in tons of new players and not everyone can get dropped

Maybe "rubbish" was over the top. 11m for a guy we have 2-3 years somewhat useful life for and someone who has residual value isn't all that bad. But he isn't good enough. Jags was sloppy for the time-being but defensively Mori was better than Williams at least he had space and could win an aerial challenge, forget his attempts to try play ball like Luiz 2-3 times a match.

I came on here looking for some itk info on incoming signings...

Instead i get pages upon pages of davek putting forward an argument to sack ronk

Mental thread
tbf, relatively speaking (ie relative to most other threads on GOT), this one is not too cluttered with 'Koeman Out!' shouts. I suppose the fact there hasn't been much activity just recently means threads can easily wander into off topic territory.

I'd rather have any of them over Williams.
Not Lovren for me but that's not the point it's that not every good team had hugely dominant center backs. One good and one decent in a well structured team is good enough. We need to focus on other things and revisit Williams later. Now if Funes Mori replacement is better so be it

Can't believe we are less than 12 days before the season starts and we've not even replaced Rom

Fixtures are tough as anything at the start and failure to pick up points against the top sides we play in the first five or six games and you can kiss goodbye to top four.
Kiss goodbye? Everton and top 4 aren't even on a date...

We've sold the leagues best striker to the team we were closest to catching, and looks to be Barkley is off too..

Well, to be honest, none of the top 6 have improved a lot, City are probably the most improved team, but they will probably find a way to underperform as per usual, United have only bought a washed up midfielder in Matic( Tks for that BTW), a young and unproven CB in Lindelof and Lukaku, whom you could argue is not even an upgrade on Ibra, who scored a [Poor language removed] ton of goals for them last season. Liverpool have so far bought a LB from a relegated team, a former Chelsea youth product and Mohamed Salah, again, nothing really impressive.
Chelsea have bought well so far, but our squad is scary thin right now, so we need to make 3-4 signings still to call it a good window, and Tottenham have literally done nothing other than sell Walker.
So its definitely not all doom and gloom for Everton, and i would argue that outside of City, you lot have had probably the best summer so far, just need that striker signing.

CB wouldn't even be much of an issue if Funes was fit... Funes/Keane would be a good partnership, as Funes wouldn't be playing the ball near as much.
