Feels like the recent surge of transfer activity like an actual signing in June with another 2 mooted in days, meetings in Italy, names popping like Whack-a-Moles is signal enough of Everton's "intent" to keep a certain Belgian happy?

Christ, the prospect of leading the line out on a brand new pitch in Bramley Moore would be enough to keep me around.

In Koeman's 4-3-3 'template' (for lack of a better word) Barkley is a forward.

i.e. he'll be utilised mainly (not all the time) as one of the three attackers, most likely out wide right.

If he stays, I think this will continue to be the case. His upturn in form last season coincided with him moving to the front three. That literally is fact.

He was placed there because of Bolasie's injury.

Of course he can attack. But let's not try and portray him as 'an attacker'. He's not that player. He doesn't lead the line and he doesn't play false nine.

Besic aint going anywhere, Jamo and probably Gaz Baz will go before him.

He will be given 6months to show his value to the squad, I think Jamo is toast, but I said that last Summer.

Whatever happens this summer, it's out with the old, and in with the new.

If the old happen to include Rom and Ross, as good as they both are and as much as I'd love them both to stay, then so be it.

They've brought us no success and change is - at times - a good thing.

He's not a striker no, but Koeman's often referred to him as a forward and it's clear that Ross has stalled as a midfielder in recent years.

When played deep, he often dallies. When played as a 10, he's too often got his back to goal.

In the 4-3-3/3-4-3/(or wide in a 4-2-3-1) he has space and the freedom to drift inside. The issue against certain teams is they'd double up on him and our crap movement from midfield meant he didn't have a pass on.

Pickford and Klaasen are the lowest standard of player we should be going for this window really, don't get me wrong they're both good signings (from what i've seen) but we need more quality, not players like Niang
