First game next season, the only survivors on that time yesterday will be

Williams
Baines
Gueye
Davies

Coleman and morgs too

5 new first teamers we'll have

He's going to play with at least two defensive middys tho. That's our club. That's what we have. in terms of 3 up front, if he wants true wide players, that's another story. But to me, Sigurdsson and Barkley behind Rom makes a lot of sense. Gyfil is not a CM. I could see Tielemens as that CM, too. Davies can play there, but I think we will see more of Gana, Morgan, and Davies rotate into those 2 DM spots.

But let's say he is willing to play 4-2-1-3 or 4-2-1-2-1, whatever you want to call it, to play narrow, he'd need an attacking ACM duo like Ross and Gyfil (or Rooney), but he'd want a couple wingers at times to play more 4-2-1-3 you'd think. But man, he better find a true CM or get Ross to be a bit more versatile.

Still doesn't solve the issue in the back, though.

But I don't think Koeman wants to play a narrow system. He'll want width and balls coming into the box. It's why he bought Bolasie and wanted the likes of Perez, Gabbiadini & Ghezzal, cos he wanted pace, trickery and a goal threat from the wide positions. Cos of injuries and a lack of personnel he's been forced into playing the likes of Barkley and DCL out wide and I don't think Koeman will want that next season. Makes the team too narrow and at times easy to play against.

And going back to Sigurdsson I think he could easily play CM with 2 from Schneiderlin, Gueye or Davies in there with him has you would have Schneiderlin sitting and screening and one of Gueye or Davies being the industrial type that's gets about the pitch, closing down and being a nuisance which would free up Sigurdsson to make runs into the box or move into the whole and make things happen.

But I think we may be looking at either Tielemans or Klaassen, probably Klaassen, to play that CM role and add that attacking threat to the team. Then again same could be said for Sigurdsson has we wanted him last summer and that was before he made an impression on the left hand side of a forward 3 for Swansea so IF we were to bring Sigurdsson in it wouldn't be a given that we would use him in a wider start off position?!

Dolberg scored again today, absolutely diabolical defending and goalkeeping, but a goal's a goal still. Can't expect much more from a team literally called "Go Ahead Eagles" tbf.

As the saying goes, a change is as good as a rest. Could be the time to freshen things up this Summer so if Rom and Ross leave it won't be the end of the world imo just a chance to play a different way.

If you follow the majority views on the threads people only want to retain.

Gueye, Davies, Baines, Schneiderlin, Lukaku, Barkley and Coleman.

As there appears to be doubt about Lukaku and Barkley's futures and Coleman is unlikely to be fit at the start of next season that would possibly leave only 4 of this season's first choice team to start next season.

It's a risky strategy to change 7 first teamers in one go.
