Summer Transfer Window 2017

I like being linked to these young high potential players but you can't have a team full of them. Dortmund are failing and most of Monaco have been together for a while in a forgiving league.

We'd get absolutely bummed I think if we don't bring in some prem experience.

Should we be aiming for players at the back like Musacchio, Manolas, Koulibaly and Laporte or are they all a step too high for us at the moment? Just money doesn't seem to be enough anymore like with City

I could do without another transfer window like the last

We should aim for the best and stop talking our club down.

If we cant get the best then we need to have other options and act accordingly.

I know they're not foreign so it's totally uncool these days but I'd be more than happy starting the season with a Keane & Gibson/Maguire partnership. Just because they're English doesn't mean they can't grow to be as good as these foreigners (some of the foreign defenders linked are overrated anyway).

That's why I've said we need a balance between very talented young players and proven quality and experienced ones mate. Get that right and you enfcup with a team that through the combination doesn't go into games afraid and yet has the experience rgercto handle adversity during a match/season.

Nice theory, but that pretty much seems like what happened last window

true, but things have changed a lot since the last window, brand new manager, horrible league position and a average team, now koeman has settled, got us into Europe, some great young players, stadium announcement done. we're boss and we're gonna sign boss

I am more concerned that our plan to improve our fortunes seems to be to grab a load of players from clubs below us.

Obviously it may work, there are many players like that who have turned out well but I fear that our (as in the fans plans) seem to be based around solidifying 7th place.

Granted we are in a much better position, If we convince one or two high profile players to make the switch then i'm sure others will follow

Weaken sides below to ensure we don't drop below where we are and hope the players we have that could play higher take us there. In theory...

Although I must ask, in the days when money is now pretty irrelevant, why would players from teams above us drop down? Sure we're a big club but CL players won't give a crap about that.

11 quality starters
6-7 quality/reliable subs
Kids

Any more ins than that and people will become unhappy and toxic.

Goalkeepers (2)
Stekelenberg, Robles

Centre Backs (6)
Jagielka, Funes Mori, Williams, Pennington, Holgate, Galloway

Fullbacks (3)
Baines, Coleman, Garbutt

Centre Mids (8)
Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Barry, Besic, Cleverley, McCarthy, Grant

Attacking Mids (3)
Barkley, McCaleny, Tarashaj

Wingers (5)
Mirallas, Bolasie, Lennon, Deulofeu, McGeady

Strikers (7)
Lukaku, Kone, Valencia, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Niasse, Rodriguez

Thats our complete list of senior players i believe - not counting some of the academy kids who've made a bench etc but not played (34 players in total)

Ones that you'd imagine would be 100% set to leave this summer would be
Kone, Cleverley, Valencia, Rodriguez, Mcgeady, Tarashaj, Garbutt, Grant, McCaleny and Niasse - 10 players - which instantly knocks us down to 24 players.

ones that look either nailed on or at the very high chance they 'could' go
Deulofeu, McCarthy, Jagielka, Funes Mori, Galloway, Mirallas, Stek or Robles - another 8 - which would put us down to just 16

Throw in the fact we have Coleman and Bolasie out long term with injuries as well as whats just happened with Lennon - puts us down to 13...

Robles, Williams, Pennington, Holgate, Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Barry, Besic, Barkley, Lukaku, DCL and Lookman (Coleman, Bolasie out long term) even if we keep some of the players like Mirallas, Jagielka - we will still need a lot of new players coming in.

we need about 8-9 players in during the summer who are all capable of playing in the first team right now. It's why players like Rooney are good shouts - we will need to spend a whole lot already, and any bargain we can get will help hugely.
