@bluestevon

You made a few posts highlighting the centre backs and (as I understand) they cant 'all' end up moving and clubs have budgets etc..

You listed: Koulibaly, Manolas, VVD, Keane, Macguire, Gibson, Lindelof, Bonnuci, Godin

there are of course plenty more like varane, laporte, marquinos, gimenez etc who are all linked with moves.

As yet, we have no idea who will stay/go from our own squad, however niasse, deulofeu and McCarthy alone would raise 40mil ish which could land one of the 'bigger' names and by adding one or two more sales of 'deadwood' as well as the 8mil for cleverley I think almost all of them would be attainable.

Hypothetically, lets imagine we were able to land one of koulibaly, VVD or Gimenez with funds generated from those outgoing sales.

Net spend would be zero and if we added another 40+million we could have 2 players hovering around the 'world class' level.

If we did indeed have 100mil to spend and we used sales+40mil to land two top centre backs I think it would be incredible business.

Our team would be transformed with a solid foundation in defence....and, as you say there are a lot of top centre backs out there for the right price.

We have midfielders falling out the cupboards, as @davek once said.

3 players to start: Schneiderlin, Davies, Gana
2 Players frequently injured: McCarthy, Besic
1 player well past his best: Barry
A couple of kids possibly coming through

From the centre midfielders we have, only 3 have proven themselves going into next season. Additionally, none of them are classed as being 'attacking' or 'dominating like a keane/Vieira' type.

I think we look very strong in the first 11 but then need 1 or 2 more players added and some moved on...

No he must have meant Spurs didn't he?

The middle of the park is quite well stocked.

I am salivating at the possibility of bringing in more than one world class CB... I see we are talking about Koulibaly again, anyone know how he has been this season for Napoli? Only player from there I have paid attention to is Mertens

Complete fantasy footy stuff incoming Zat

Niasse - 10m, Deulofeu 15m, McCarthy 20m, Lennon - 5m, Mori -15m, throw in a few sales like tarashaj, McCelenny and Galloway etc - maybe say another 10m can be raised that way, Cleverley we already have an agreement for Watford to purchase at seasons end for 8m, and we could 'easily' raise close to 85m via those.

Offer Kolasanic a big wage to beat off competition - and get him on a free, Throw 20m at keane or Gibson, 50m for VVD or a similar top top level cb. and 15m on a keeper like Pickford etc.

thats the back four absolutely sorted for no net spend

we'd be left with a really strong spine of the team as good as any in the league

We'd still need a lot of investment in other areas even with all that though, right back cover maybe (Trippier?), someone who can provide goals from central midfield (Ramsay?) a striker to back up Rom and give us options (Iheanacho or Dolberg?) and someone with genuine pace who can play wide or central the way Mane can (maybe try to loan Brahimi etc)

Your looking at a huge investment needed even assuming we can get the first lot of outs and ins sorted.

As i said though it's all a fantasy footy type post as honestly most of our deals and players incoming wont have even had a mention in the media in all likelihood

@chicoazul go on mate have fun lol

We need a goal threat from centre mid mate

Christ.

Oh well, here goes.

Sell
The Clev 8m
Niasse 10m
Geripowderlungs 10m
Jamo 14m
Lennon 3m
Mori 15m
Lukaku 65m

Buy
Pickford 15m
De Vrij 20m
Bensebaini 15m
Tielemans 25m
Haller 18m
Janssen 17m

Get relegated, spend the parachute payments on the Bosnian National Team.

True we will not know until the window opens. Just don't know if he will leave either, would he be a starter here? He isn't a full time starter at Arsenal and maybe he wants that playing time.
Well even if Rom left, if Giroud is averaging around 20 goals in all comps as it is, barring this season, (don't think that's down to him so much) then I'd say he'd definitely be starting for us, or at least pushing whoever else we brought in up front for their spot.

We can't just sell every squad player just because they aren't in the first team. I'd we did we'd have to sign about 11 players in the summer. As it stands I'm sure we will see the likes of dowell, Walsh, Pennington and Kenny getting regular games in the Europa league, but not necessarily the premier league.
