Player Valuation: £15m
Getting Howard, J-Lo and AJ last summer was considered by the majority of the fans as a successful summer. I was thinking then what would be considered a success this summer?

- Getting Arteta to sign an extended/better contract or at the very least get some £10-12 m. for him.

- Signing M. Fernades on a permanent contract

- Signing David Nugent (will go for £6-8 m.)

- Signing Steve Sidwell (free)

- Signing Matthew Etherington (£1½ m.)

- Signing Nigel Reo-Coker (£5 m.)

- Signing Leighton Baines (£3 m.)

- Signing Billy Jones (£½ m.)

- Selling Beattie (Sunderland), McFadden, Naysmith & Wright (Rangers), van der Meyde (back to Holland) and Pistone (back to Italy)

That would be great summer in my book (just getting Nugent would probably do it).
 

For me a successful summer would be signing Howard, Fernandes, a centre back plus one or two young players. A winger would be a bonus. I don't expect a huge number of players to be coming in because even if we qualify for the UEFA Cup that isn't a huge money spinner.

Those signings assume that the current squad is largely kept. If Beattie goes then a replacement is likely (probably Nugent). If VDM goes likewise a replacement would be required. The likes of Sidwell, NRC and Baines I can't see happening.

GD, I think most of your forecasts are possible , especially the outs. I don't want to see either NRC or Baines at the club, Etherington maybe, Sidwell yes and Nugent is a must. Hopefully DM will be trawling the lower leagues for young squad palyers, those players would ensure no spectacular increase in our wages bill.

I suspect that the deal for signing Fernandes is already done although the paper work is 'locked away' if you get my drift.

Well a bit of hit and miss on my part, but at least the offloading is going according to plan, would however choose to keep McF now.
