Thought I'd set this up to post stupid lyrics, or lyrics you don't understand so people can explain them or just share in the WTFness. I'll start.

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey. The more I get of you stranger it feels yeah. Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey.

Amazing song. WTF lyrics.

So many more I can't think of right now.

But there are several images on the net of me taking a good pounding?!

I know, google must be broken

You clicked the link again Nik......If there's a link posted somewhere, Nik will definitely click on it

I have a secret to tell
From my electrical well
It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells
So the room must listen to me
Filibuster vigilantly
My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e
My story's infinite
Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest

"Birdhouse In Your Soul" by They Might Be Giants.
Good song, but what's it about?!?!

"Pictures of Lily" by The Who. Charted in the 60's. It was VERY clear what this was about!!!!!!!

I used to wake up in the morning
I used to feel so bad
I got so sick of having sleepless nights
I went and told my dad

He said, "Son now here's some little something"
And stuck them on my wall
And now my nights ain't quite so lonely
In fact I, I don't feel bad at all
I don't feel bad at all

Pictures of Lily made my life so wonderful
Pictures of Lily let me sleep at night
Pictures of Lily solved my childhood problems
Pictures of Lily make me feel alright

Lily was actually Chico.

Anything by The Mars Volta. Well... I do get their lyrics, but it takes a lot of thought and dissection. Cedric uses a ridiculous amount of obscure metaphors and words I need to get the dictionary out for!

I could pick pretty much any of their songs to show you what I mean;

You've got the lot to burn
A shelve of pig smotherd cries
Is there a spirit that spits
Upon the exit of signs
Is anybody there
These steps keep on growing long
Bayonet trials rust propellers await
No
Nobody is heard
Rowing sheep smiles for the dead
Nobody is heard
An antiquated home
Afloat with engines on mute
Sui generis ship spined around the yard
Is anybody there
These craft only multiply
At the nape of ruins rust propellers await
No
Nobody is heard compass wilting in the wind
Nobody is heard
Rowing sheep smile for the dead
Tansoceanic depth in this earth
In this cenotaph
Lash of one thousand eye brows clicking
Counting the toll
Counting the toll
You've got the lot to burn
A shelve of pig smothered cries
Is there a spirit that spits upon the exit of signs
Is anybody there
These steps keep on growing long
Bayonet trials rust propellers await
No
Nobody is heard compass wilting in the wind
Nobody is heard rowing sheep smile for the dead
Transoceanic depth in this earth in this cenotaph
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Lash of one thousand eyebrows clicking
Counting the toll
Counting the toll
Lash of one thousand eyebrows clicking
Counting the toll
Counting the toll

But for lyric nerds like me it's great fun trying to work out the meaning. :D

I cant be arsed with that ****. I like songs about loosing girls and emotional lyrics that you dont have to disect. Like songs that arn't obvious, but dont have weird metaphors and ****. Check this song out by Fear Factory. Its about euthanasia. Obviously it doesn't say euthanasia euthanasia in the song, but you can work it out because it doesnt use stupid phrases and non sensical metaphors. The lyrics in speech brackets are a spoken word sample from something. Not actually sung by the singer.

"It's quite an experience
to hold the hand of someone
as they move
from living to dead."

"Final Exit...
The practicalities
of self-deliverance"

Final Exit

Your Life no longer
has any value
Let them tell you what your
own life is worth

There is no compassion
as life fades away
This self deliverance the choice
you have made

Contemplate your last breath
As you see the face of death
Contemplate your last breath
Breath, slowly breath

Final Exit

The pain in your life
I cannot perceive
Crimes of humanity
I see and believe

Contemplate your last breath
As you see the face of death
Contemplate your last breath
Breath, slowly breath
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye

"It's quite an experience
to hold the hand of someone
as they move
from living to dead."

Like the knife
that cuts through me
Stabbing uncertainty
It bleeds my life I know
Draining my heart and soul...

Like the knife
that cuts through me
Stabbing uncertainty
It bleeds my life I know
Draining my heart and soul...
my soul, my soul, my soul...

(goodbye, goodbye...)

Contemplate your last breath
Breath, slowly breath

Goodbye, goodbye...

It's not for everyone, but as an English nerd and a music nerd it's only natural that I enjoy it when the two combine.

I'm not saying that's all I listen too, mind. Nirvana for the most part had meaningless lyrics. Kurt himself said he'd write the music and then just add the words later.

But it's nice to have diversity.

P.S. Just because that doesn't use the word "euthanasia" it does not make it at all subtle. It's about as subtle as a brick through a window. But simple pleasures for simple minds, eh?

xx
