Some comments above with a complete interview in the Derby match programme on sunday. On other forums, ive seen this lad get a lot of stick (maybe cos he was part of the Kirkby stadium advert or he was matey with Rooney.....feck knows) and i cant understand why. He was a decent player, big Evertonian and played his part in, as he says it, a Everton resurgence over the past few years.

Top fella

Thanks Stu for giving me the opportunity to post about something I feel really strongly about for my 10,000th post, an article concerning my old golf mate Alan could not have been better.

He has been called to task on here by many, was even called a traitor for moving to Sunderland a few years back. The lad would have been mortified to have read such comments because he is, always has and always will be a staunch Blue, he loves everything about the club and has done so since a toddler.

Alan the man is one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet, quite, softly spoken at times but always respectful and always aware that on Merseyside he still represents the Blue shirt. Golf is a game that demands utmost personal honesty, seldom is it given but when playing a round one summers morning Alan was in a bunker on the far side of the green from where I was standing, I held his card, the ball comes out as sweetly as you like and stops about three feet from the flag, Alan rolled the put in no problem. I said to him 'Par four mate' he replied no, he had inadvertently touched the ball with his foot in the bunker, no one saw it nor even suspected it but Stubbsy man called it as it was, that is the sort of guy he is. I just think back to those happy days and feel proud to have know him.

My 10,000th post is dedicated to my mate Stubbsy(y)

stubbs has been a great player for us... just hope he gets the cheers he deserves on his return top class pro

Some people don't like Stubbs because he publically stated that the club only offered him a one year deal because he had contracted cancer in the past...(n)

Yeah but that's in the past. Stubbs was a great servant for the club whilst he was here. I honestly think he'll be back in the coaching staff in some fashion when he retires after next season.

so the truth hurts, put yourself in his shoes(y)

Alan Stubbs doesn't need to explain or defend his alliegence to Everton to anyone, even when he signed for Celtic he wished it was us he had signed for, he told me that, a total stranger in a supermarket as i wished him luck with his move from Bolton and commented how i wish that we'd come in for him.

Vim, Alan was always gutted by the fact he never played for us earlier. even when he was in SCotland his Mrs lived at Kirkby. Stubbsy is the new Labby and should be accorded the same respect(y)

Love Stubbsy, cracking bloke, true blue, and was a solid player for us. Alwys used to see him driving about in Kirkby, popping into the bookies every now then - never got grief off of anyone, nice to everyone.

He's probably stopping Deby from gettig twatted 7-0 week in week out.

Hope he gets a good reception on Sunday.

Yeah but guys you have to appreicate that he publicaly condemned the club, regardless of the circumstances some supporters will never forgive anything like that. No one doubts his loyalty to Everton, but some of his actions were a bit odd, none more so than leaving us when he did the 2nd time around.

Sim, quite honestly that is bollocks, that decision was made not by Moyes but by Wyness as a cost cutting exercise to protect the clubs interest and it was later reversed. No matter how strong you loyalties are family comes first

Are you referring to his first leaving?

As I say monty, its not that I hold anything against him for feeling agrieved to what happened, I think anyone of us would, but I'm saying that when y ou speak publically against Everton for whatever reason, there will be some fans that will never forgive you, so all I'm saying is that I understand where some of this dislike for him comes from.

But as for leaving the 2nd time when Moyes seemed to be giving him more of a backroom role then I cant really understand that. But I hold no grudge against him.

stubbs is a great guy no doubt, but coming out and saying the club only gave a 1 year deal because of cancer he had previous was uncalled for. he was embarrassing when he was at the club with many of his press statements.

previous cancer or previous broken leg. a club will look at the medical history of a player before making a contract.

I definitely feel he'll be in coaching right after he finishes playing.

Definitely, I just wonder if it will be with us now. Moyes needs a no2 right now and while he was with us I think he always had an outside chance of getting that job. I wouldnt rule it out if Moyes doesnt find the man he wants in the summer.
