Stubbs & Irvine a Revolution in the Academy?

Is this a gentle revolution in the academy by Martinez? Has he encouraged these guys to move on if opportunities present themselves or have they become frustrated by a clash in footballing philosophies? Neither could be described as exponents of the beautiful game in the way Martinez likes to play, could this be a continued evolution of the School of Science in the vein of Barcelona whom he admires so much?

For me I think this is a positive as it allows Martinez to find people who are completely on board with what he wants to achieve and the style of play and coaching associated with that.
 

They've just both been offered positions which are too good turn down.

Martinez has said he likes having people with knowledge of the club behind the scenes and I doubt he'd be wanting to reshape an academy setup which is one of the best in the country.

Irvine is a much bigger lose than stubbs though
 
....Stubbs made it clear quite a while ago (I think it was at that broadcast 'tea party' event) that his ambition lies in Management and that him and Unsworth would be a partnership. Saying that, I suspect RM wont shed any tears if either/both leave and he brings coaches in who share his philosophy.
 

The opportunity to get into management at a senior level is too good to turn down for Alan Stubbs.
David Unsworth however,should think long and hard before he leaves.
He will be second in command at a second tier team in Scotland with an unproven manager.
He was brought back to Everton by RM and with the departure of Irvine and Stubbs there must be room for significant promotion.

I wonder if Big Dunc could be appointed to replace Alan Irvine. He obviously impresses RM and head of the academy is probably second to manager in importance at a club like Everton.
 
Head of the Academy is far more of an administration role than some people realise. You are removed from coaching and become something a club ambassador/pen pusher/master planner. That's why Irvine left - he wanted to go back to coaching/managing.

That's not Big Dunc. He was promoted from the Under 18s to the first team mid-season (how often does that happen at any club?) because Martinez saw how valuable he was as a COACH! There are already numerous stories about how great Dunc is in the dressing room with the first team players. When Martinez moves on, I'd say there is a good chance that Dunc will be our next manager.

By all accounts Unsworth has turned down the chance to move on. He knows he's got a good gig at Everton and to be fair to the lad he loves it here.

When Martinez promoted Dunc to the first team - and not Stubbs - the writing was on the wall for Alan, hence his departure.

The Reserves/U-21 league is pretty poor and being a manager in it these days is largely meaningless.
 

If Unsworth leaves he'll be back in a fortnight anyway, he's got history for it. Being serious I hope he stays to provide an Evertonian presence along side a new coach of Roberto's choice for the 21's. A big part of the Head of the Academy job is dealing with the parents and family's of the young players already at the club, as well as persuading those that we are looking to bring in to sign up. I think Peter Reid would be ideal, he is passionate about the club and has experience of signing players, he'd be a perfect ambassador for the club.
