Strange Season

At the start of the season, we looked certain of a champions league place, demolishing United, Villa and Swansea with Fellaini looking unstoppable. Coming into Christmas we stated to lose form a little bit with draws after draws. After continuous draws in before Christmas, we entered the most difficult time of the season: the Christmas break. We done well with 2 wins on the bounce and things started to get better again until we got turned over by Chelsea at Goodison in a game we deserved something. Now we are too far behind CL and struggling to attain a Europa League place with Arsenal and Liverpool overtaking us. Our normal 7th place finish in the table is coming back to haunt us again and a 3-0 battering from Wigan in a game that we showed no passion in. The January transfer window also is taking a big part in a season that we've come undone in.

It's been a strange one. Keep the faith. COYB

I think we were a bit over excited over a 6week period we have been average and worse ever since but for 6weeks we played some awesome stuff what happened?

Certain of a champions league place after a few weeks? Haha.

You might have been but the majority of sane people were thinking logically.

The transfer window and lack of consistency imo cost us mate. Failure to land Leroy Fer in January and the amount of draws in October and November.

Its the draws that ultimately cost us, sometimes they actually felt like defeats. We needed to push on to try and win instead of the "be happy what weve got" attitude in some games.

Its January which will ultimately cost us, not the draws.

The draws play a big part I agree, but not getting much needed reinforcements has had more of an effect.

Think deep down we all knew that all those draws where gunna kill us at some point. We don't deal well with expectation. That said we were on the end of some awful decisions in that period that ruined any momentum we could have built.

Our defense hasn't been good enough all season. Our main striker hasn't got us enough goals and our midfield is poor when Gibson isn't playing. Can't really expect to finish above 7th when you bear all of that in mind.

The spell of draws before Christmas was always going to come back to haunt Everton.

Bringing in Fer would have helped, but even with him it'd be a big ask, especially when the manager is so limited tactically.
