I used my first patch today in an attempt to stop smoking.
I've been ill as a dog with a 24hr bug type thing, so probably not the best time to start quitting, but what the heck. I'm too ill to go out and buy cigs.

Anyone else stopped?

I gave up 7 years ago but did it without patches. Complete waste of money mate, and if you think about it don't actually take nicotine away, but tease you with the feeling but not the actual physical drag, and hand habits.

Plus patches are like 20 quid odd? I would sack them off, and get this book by Alan Carr - just google him.

You basically have to train your mind to think differently about smoking, and then just go cold turkey, I went from 20 a day minimum to none.

Then think about saving about almost 200 quid a month.

It's all in the head, 100%.

Good luck with it though mate.

Do you still crave for a cig? I've heard many do.

I jacked about a month ago, just stopped unaided, was gonna get hyno'd but decided I'd try just jackin' and so far so good. Away games are a big test of resolve though/ enough of a hit when you for a slash to last a month.
Also I've been in coffee shops in Amsterdam with less green than our away ends.

I have tobacco just in case, as if I want a ciggy then I don't want to have to go buy some.

Not so much now.

I'll probably have the odd cigar, and when I get well old i'm defo getting a pipe.

I take it you're not on 20 cigars per day then.

I stopped once for 3 months. I don't really drink, and I don't do drugs, so cutting the cigs out will leave me fairly empty regarding lifes little perks, so to speak.

Well up to you mate. I saved money by not smoking, I don't stink, and I don't have to go outside the pub every 30 minutes freezing my nads off.

a mate of mine got caught smoking in school. The nuns at the school (it was a convent school) made her chain chain smoke until she passed out... 15 years later, shes not touched one, and the thought of smoking makes her feel ill. Worth a try! haha.

Seriously though, good luck :) If I can give up chocolate for nearly 28 days... you can easily give up the cigs! :)

The physical craving is over in 3 days. It is the mental craving that is hard to break, and patches don't help with that.

They don't. Just another revenue stream.

I wasted so much money on patches, and decided to be mentally tough and do it myself.

TBH I don't really remember giving up or having any trouble doing so. I just did it.
