I actually thought we were quite vocal today, in comparison to other aways this season. Considering Stoke pride themselves on the 'bear Brit Britannia' atmosphere I reckon we received more hostility at Reading...

Agreed. Add in the fact that it was bloody freezing and that their main stand seems only to contain kids and grannies.

Was a bit cold. I don't understand why they don't fill those corners in? It's cold up there in June, never mind December. I have quite a few mates who support Stoke, considering they pride themselves on their 'noise' more then their football, yesterday was a let down.

Going back to the Fell/Shawcross thing, he's held his hands up, we were playing a supposed 'hardend' side, us Blues aren't sticking up for him and he'll get what he deserves. Can we all move the **** on now before we all have to start highlighting all of Stoke's wrongs over the past few years...

Felliani never gets any protection from refs, it's alright for people to be pulling him all the time, saying that he shouldn't have done what he did but he's apoligised and we move on.

Stoke have employed sh1thouse WWF style techniques at set pieces for a couple of years now and been allowed by weak refs to get away with it.I'd say that Shawcross got pretty much the reaction he wanted - he wound Fellaini up to breaking point and got twatted. Had Fellaini done a proper butt then Shawcross would have been cut (perhaps the Fro cushioned it)

Fellaini was completely in the wrong but I have no sympathy for Shawcross - reap what you sow and all that

Stoke are the anti-christs of football. Jelavic as well was getting frustrated with the tactics of Stoke shirt pulling grabbing etc. Don't condone what Felli did but can see why he lost it.

wouldn't base your opinion on fellaini based just on yesterday. watch him throughout the season and he won't be the same. he'll be the one being held back and tugged whenever going for a ball and not getting any protection. It was stupid what he did - he'll get the rightful punishment. This bit has basically nothing to do with stoke.

When you defender is linking his arms around a players chest and the ref gives nothing i don't see how you can complain really. Stoke play the game in the proper way - foul after foul so the ball spends more time dead than alive.

we only sing when we're winning - mainly because we're not a small club like stoke who needs the fans' Soccer AM chants to get our team going, the fact our players play for such a big club is good enough

Maybe to imply they adopt Rugby tactics at home & get away with it - Felli played into shawcross hands as he had them around him on every set peice by lashing out half heartedly but still wrong!

Yeah, in fairness Jelavic was getting thrown all over and even got ''punched'' off a corner but got on with it and tried his best, didn't half put in a shift yesterday and kept his anger down. Felli should've followed his lead but oh well we move on.
Did thing Jelavic played well yesterday even with nothing going for him and playing against them yard dogs

Fellaini should not have done what he did in a million years, whatever the circumstances, and should have been sent off.

That said, Shawcross had two arms around either his neck or his waist at EVERY set piece. Yes, it happens in most games to some extent, but I've never seen it as consistent or blatant as it was in yesterday's match. Stoke seem to get a free pass to do that, and if I hear "that's just the way they play" one more time...

He was having a complete nightmare of a game and was being fouled constantly and had a penalty given against him last week for the exact same type of foul. You could see why he'd be a bit pissed off.

Anyone who's played football competitively will have had days like that and will have done just as bad or worse than what Fellaini did. I know I have.

this is what is overlooked most. Why nobody in the media highlights it i don't know. The pen we conceded vs city was a penalty, but the fact that there's no consistancy became an issue. I expect probert to give a penalty every time he sees something like that this this season from now on. If fellaini would have dived like a pansy like dzeko every single time the ball came in. would he have eventually got a penalty? if he would have then that is the main problem in football. Think the FA need to make a set of rules as to what is enough contact to award penalties. I know if i was a ref i would blow up for a pen/free kick every time there is a shirt pull. Even if i gave 7/8 penalties in the 1st half, you would think the players would stop doing it for the rest of the match. It may be farcical yes, but why should cheats prosper?r

The OP claims that some posters say Shawcross got what he deserved. I haven't read any cases of that but as you say he did get what he was looking for. Or at least he got half of what he was looking for. He would have hoped the ref sent Fellaini off.
