Me neither. But equally I don't expect a DoF to be essentially a chief scout which is what he seems from the outside*. You'd think the DoF would be in direct control of the new manager search.

*obviously I'm guessing
Is that why he's always at our matches, instead of watching other teams playing?

I believe the issues we have at the club on the pitch did not start with koeman or end with his sacking

As Sunday proved

..I don’t disagree. From reports, Moshiri and Kenwright met with Walsh/Koeman after the Arsenal game. Lots of angry words were exchanged. Koeman was subsequently sacked, Walsh is in last chance saloon (apparently) which suggests they feel most of the culpability lies with Koeman.

Walsh bought some players early on.
Walsh failed bringing in both Sigurdsson and Giroud before pre-season started.
Koeman thought the new players were rubbish after he got back from Holiday and started pre-season.
Koeman realized his reputation was on the line so dug his heels in with both Sigurdsson and Giroud and rejected everything else because he no longer trusted Walsh and didn't want to sign of on any more of his "finds".
Season starts and Koeman is forced to defend deep due to our horrible defence. The one thing we needed was pace at CB and Walsh again failed to get that with Keane being a big disappointment.
Sigurdsson was still bought to appease the manager.
Walsh is angry at Koeman because he was probably too busy on the golf course to keep in communication with Walsh to get what he wanted.
Koeman thinks Walsh is useless. Walsh things Koeman is work shy and blames everyone else when it goes wrong when maybe if he wasn't either on holiday or on the golf course the issues could have been resolved.

That's what I think happened.

..I doubt Walsh had much to do with ‘bringing Sigurdsson and Giroud in’. From what I know, Giroud didn’t want to move and Kenwright does the negotiating.

Didn't want to move so much that he came all the way up to Finch Farm?

@Eggs , the Index is starting to not be kind on your info. Two year deals in China for Rooney. You need a new source ASAP.

How is this ‘man’ still in a job ffs? He’s almost completely just signed well known domestic players that anyone on this forum could have ‘scouted’ and failed in his number 1 priority; replacing our top goal scorer.

Moyes did a job 100x better all on his own. And I’m not advocating Moyes coming back in any capacity.

Hans plays with Lotte, Lotte plays with Jane.
Jane plays with Willi, Willi is happy again.
Suki plays with Leo, Sacha plays with Britt.
Adolf builds a bonfire, Enrico plays with it.

I’d have Moyes back as the DoF, he could pick a player........

It appears different players can be sourced to multiple dealings.

Rooney- kenwright wanted him

Siggurdson klassen martina- koeman wanted them

Vlasic sandro Keane pickford - walsh wanted them

You can see where the squad has completely gone wrong with 3 inputs

It's been a strange experiment all round. In his first season he didn't get the whole transfer window to stamp his authority and I'm convinced he tried to replicate Leicester's system and style of play on us Wes Morgan (Ashley Williams), N'golo Kante (Idrissa Gueye), Rihyad Mahrez ( Rachid Ghezzal) and Jamie Vardy (Lucas Perez) - obviously we never ended up signing the last two but we tried very hard according to reports at the time. I think Yannick Bolasie was probably a Koeman signing.

The January window saw Lookman arrive (almost certainly a Walsh capture) and Schneiderlin (definitely Koeman's pick) and the latter really pushed our season onto another level as it had been fairly mundane up until that point. Koeman also made some subtle digs towards Walsh after we crashed out of the FA Cup to Leicester as the Schneiderlin transfer was taking so long.

Nothing more needs to be said about last summer, an absolute failure in every sense of the word. If Walsh was to get sacked tomorrow I don't think one Everton fan would seriously miss him but if players like Pickford, Keane, Vlasic, Onyekuru, Lookman, DCL and Sanro all grow into exceptional players (even just a few of them, Pickford is looking like he is top class already) maybe we'd look back and regret sacking him.

Critical time for the board coming into January. You can't have a DoF and the manager making their own signings, it simply won't work. They have two options as far as I'm concerned:

1: name the next manager a 'Head Coach' and give Walsh absolute autonomy when it comes to signing players.
2: throw Walsh on the scrap heap and go back to Moyes days where the manager dictates everything and makes his own signings too.
