There has to be a long standing interest in Niang. He went to Milan after visiting Goodison about five years ago - hard choice eh- but his career never kicked on as was predicted when he played in France as a 16yr old. His contract is up and refused to sign at Watford having been on loan there. I reckon he's exactly the type Walsh has been also been keeping tabs on with his French contacts. Worth a gamble? At the right price, with youth on his side, possibly. Sure they discussed Geri too.

The Italian papers say he is also meeting Inter reps, Banega rumours again? Not the same player from our first approaches to sign him, but at least Walsh has the courtesy to speak to the clubs before taking them to see the sights of the North West and a ride on the donkeys at Blackpool Beach. Good to see the club showing how business should be conducted, face to face and no harm having strong links with the Milanese clubs.

I'm not totally convinced of his great scouting looking for decent players at AC/Inter Milan really...wonder if he's keeping any gems quiet at Barca/Real Madrid?
