Listened to 5 live coming back from Stamford Bridge and the ******** who had been at the game said Everton played a "poor Chelsea side" no credit for us, isn't that just typical

On ESPN in the States he is usually very positive about Everton. He constantly goes on about he grew up an Evertonian and his nephews and family are all Evertonians, etc. I thought he was pretty positive about our second half performance today as well (that may have been a US feed only though so don't know if you got him today).

I gotta say, I watched the game via entirely legal methods (oO), and McManaman was an absolutely fantastic commentator.

He was honestly one of the best co-commentators I've ever heard. Throughout the match he was making insightful comments and praising Everton for having a go and being solid at the back in the second half.

His assessment of Beckford in particular was top drawer.

So I think you're being more than a bit harsh!!!

I think he's right in some respects. They're a team out of form and ancelotti made some weird changes to go very defensive and invite us on.

The first half they were the better side

I've had a soft spot for him ever since he walked away from the rs out of contract, when they could have had multi mega millions for him - proved he was a blue then.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but Macca definitely is one of the better co-commentators right now. Anytime they have an Everton match on TSN (ESPN up here in Canada.), he is always positive about Everton. His comments and insight always add to the game as well.

He's better than some of the other pillocks I've heard on commentary, like Pat Dolan and Craig Burley.

Agree with this. Love his scouse accent too. My favorite line from him today was when he called Jagielka, "Philielka"

The combination of him and Ian Darke is great.

It was the 83rd minute before either Mac or Ian mentioned the name "Arteta". How do you do an Everton match and go 83 minutes without mentioning that Arteta is not out there?

Other than that, I love this pair. I thought Mac was spot on about us. Said many times that we were better than our position in the table would indicate.

Woah, I didnt even realize Arteta was on the pitch. Are you sure?

Im not joking. I feel stupid

He was very good on ESPN today here in the States so I don't know what you're on about. I mean he might have been right about the poor Chelsea side in terms of how they played but he, on more than one occasion, gave Everton credit today for how we battled for the result.

Both he and Darke are forming a good partnership.
