The problem is, we have 4 number 6s, not a single number 8, Barry and McCarthy are 100% 6s, Gibson is borderline 8 and Besic, I personally think could play anywhere, number 6, number 8, number 10. But we have lacked a REAL number 8/10 all season, Ross could do it, with ease, but sadly hes not performing.

An Arteta 08, Moutinho 11 or Gourcuff 11 would be ideal.

I genuinely thought Barkley was gonna have a storming season in the role behind Lukaku, I still think he'll come good but it's not gonna be this season and it won't be whilst that bell plays him on the wing.

I'd love some vintage Arteta now, I remember a game at Villa Park I think it was, where he just absolutely took the piss out of them and I just laughed in disbelief, we need someone to step up and do that right about now.

Taken me blue tinted specs off, baines has been largely lacklustre for 18 months now bar that little spell earlier this season, would have Oviedo in when fit for a run of games

Baines was our best player in the first half of the season, mate. Granted I know that's not saying much, but I think people just think Baines isn't performing when in reality it's that all of our attacking play doesn't focus on him like the latter Moyes years.

Though Baines didn't look fit at all on Sunday, so Oviedo or Garbutt for the next few games for sure.

The problem is, Baines was our entire attacking outlet for years under Moyes, Baines and Pienaar would take the pee and then cross it in the middle and Cahill or Felli would slot it. Under Martinez we are "attacking" differently, so Baines doesnt shine as much as he used to, plus, his corners are very hit and miss recently, mostly miss sadly. Still a massive fan of the boy Leighton tho personally.

Thats true, but to me he just looks like hes lacking urgency to his play, and when oviedo comes in and even garbutt you see the difference because there up and down all game.

Plus baines has been poor defensively this season, takes him hours to close down a crosser

He doesnt know whether hes coming or going, I watched him on Sunday, for 90 whole minutes he was on his own left side, he always had 2 people infront him when attacking and 2 people coming towards him when defending, he doesnt know what to do and I dont blame him.

I know but when the other 2 play they dont have that problem.

What be an improvement if he had someone other than albino messi in front of him though

I think this is worth it on two fronts.
Firstly Oviedo will do a great job for us.
Secondly Baines on the Bench will allow him to get over a lot of the niggles he seems to be playing with, or awaken some interest somewhere in a team that could offer us good money.
I would be happy with Garbutt, Oviedo and 15 million off Man City. I wouldn't begrudge Bainesy some years playing with higher level footballers.
