Star Wars - Favourite Episode

Here I am sat watching The Return of the Jedi with the kids and I wondered what the favourite episode of Star wars was on GOT

I'll start. A New Hope - first and best

There's a certain noir-ness about The Empire Strikes Back that puts it above the first one. Jedi is third. All the prequels are pretty poor.

The empire strikes back brave to have such a dark film in the middle of the trilogy

Empire - by a mile..... dark and menacing with no visible happy ending, unusual for what is essentially a kiddies film.

1.) 6 - Return of the Jedi
2.) 5 - The Empire Strikes Back
3.) 3 - Revenge of the Sith
4.) 1 - The Phantom Menace
5.) 4 - A New Hope
6.) 2 - Attack of the Clones



It's such a cliché to say the prequels are crap. Maybe it's because I'm younger, but well, I disagree. My dad's generation grew up with the originals, when they used groundbreaking but now outdated special effects. My generation grew up with the new age of SFX, but hey, nothing I can do about that. As a kid I grew up with the original 3, and then watched the new ones in the cinema multiple times as a kid. I love all 6 films, and I don't care how many bitter, boring old men tell me the new ones suck, I maintain they're valid installments and great films. Despite Jar Jar Binks.

My kids love all of them and the cartoon stuff. It's longevity is amazing really

As a film, i'd say The Empire Strikes Back would be the greatest out of the lot, but the originals just signify childhood for me, therefore Return of the Jedi gets my vote 'cause that makes me feel about 9 watching it, brilliant.

The prequels nearly made me forget that I had a childhood, appalling.

Alternative film type buffs always say Strikes Back, but they are wrong.

Return of the Jedi had Ewoks in it ffs, so it has to Empire.

For me and most people my age Star Wars was more than just a film. We had the toys and played at being Han Solo. I remember the anticipation of Empire coming out and the near hysteria before Jedi. The prequels dont come near to the roiginals despite all the fancy CGI stuff. Darth Maul was interesting the Menace, as was Jengo Fett in AotC. Revenge of the Sith is the best of the prequels but still suffers from sh*tty acting and horrible dialogue.
The first three films were trail blazers. If you look at them objectively then Empire is probably the better film but for me New Hope will always be number 1.
