Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
say we were given a plot of land in a place that makes us all happy or more room around goodison to develop goodison itself. which stadium design would you choose ? either from previous design suggestions or type of stadium you would like, maybe an older stadium design that you still think has stood the test of time. there are some fantastic stadiums out there and i personally think the current suggestion looks crap, everton football club should play in a world class venue that is befitting of them.
of older stadia i like the avtec in mexico city it seems to always have an atmosphere and a buzz that goes around it.
the bernabau is in a built up area, massive and on a small footprint.
boca is very steep thus being squeezed into a small space.
a sliding roof is nothing new around the world so why dont we have one ?
there was a sketch out once of a goodison beefed up to about 70,000 i think, i liked the look of that one.
kings dock looked good too.
i personally would like to see a big capacity stadium with a retractable roof, steep stands so no-one needs a telescope, z-cars in full surround sound, and a team that wins every game 6-0.

If they could re-create goodison without the supporting pillars that would be ace.

A traditional stadium for a traditional team.

i don't mind having a basic stadium, if that's all the club can afford, as it can always be improved later. the key thing is that we can generate substantial additional money for moyes transfer kitty, which doesn't seem to be the case in kirkby, sadly.

The most important thing about any new stadium has to be the acoustics, a noise box to put the crap up any opposition, the louder the better.

Something like La Bombadera (or whatever it's called) - "The Chocolate Box" - to frighten the [Poor language removed] out of visiting players.... closer to the pitch than the old West Ham design...

TD

Exactly, could be worth 10 points a season(y)

I love dreaming about stadiums Everton could build with some money. However i think without investment its inevitable that we will have a half-assed stadium like boltons or wigans...

I like many stadiums though, Dortmunds, Munichs, Cardiffs...

I like the traditional Squarish design, the stadium design right now isn't bad..it could be greatly improved though

As for the idea of a sliding roof - good idea, but instead of wasting money on that....video cube anyone???

all worthy of consideration Dom at the end of the day whatever is built you youngsters will have to use it for years to come(y)

Exactly - thats why we need to get this stadium perfect, meaning like 90% of the fans are happy with it or something...

So stadium suggestion lookalikes: Dortmund, AOL Arena...etc...

Have you got a Wishlist?

One contentious thing i will say about the Kirkby design is contrary to a lot of moans from Evertonians, i dont think it is a bad design. Its not one of these 'superbowl' efforts that most new grounds seem to go for and compared to the standard new stadium that is constructed these days, it has a unique look about it in Britain (albeit they reckon it is modelled on a new facility in Germany)

it seems very bland & would be improved if it were more like the one they claim to have modelled it on.
