Canterbury West railway station might be renamed Kanye West station
kanye-west-station.jpg

A Kanye West fan is campaigning to rename a railway station after the popular American rapper.
Mark Kilner launched a petition earlier this year to propose that Canterbury West railway station be renamed after the ‘greatest human being of our time’.
Addressed to Canterbury City Council and Southeastern trains, the petition states: ‘We cannot undo past wrongs such as retroactively giving Taylor Swift’s Grammy Award to Beyoncé any more than we can save Jesus from crucifixion (although technically God kind of took care of that)..’
‘But we can show our appreciation in other ways, and what better start than renaming Canterbury West Station to Kanye West Station?’
Kilner adds: ‘I see this as the first step towards a brighter future when the whole of Canterbury is renamed after Kanye (wealth be upon him).’

kanye-approves-clapping.gif

He ambitiously dreams of a ‘Kanye West’ town where visitors can come and go, ‘pilgrims’ can visit the ‘Kanye Cathedral to pay homage to the great man’ and the sick and the injured can visit the ‘Kent and Kanye Hospital’.
The petition originally only managed to attract a total of 19 signatures since it was created in March, but a new wave of support has meant that the petition has now gathered over 880 supporters.
Some supporters have even started the slogan ‘Yes we Kanye’, while one keen supporter wrote: ‘This issue is important to me as I frequently listen to Kanye West while taking the train FROM Kanye West (nee Canterbury West).
‘It’s time to recognise Kanye formally as a champion of the train user experience.’

Men in panda onesies carry out armed robbery in Lincolnshire

Police say one of the men who robbed shop in Louth was armed with what appeared to be a handgun

Two men dressed in panda onesies have carried out an armed robbery on a newsagent.
Lincolnshire police said one of the men who robbed the shop in Louth on Sunday evening was armed with what appeared to be a handgun.
Officers said the pair forced a female member of staff to hand over cash from the safe then left the scene on foot at about 7.30pm. The member of staff was shaken but unhurt.
Police are asking people living nearby to check their bins for discarded clothing.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.

Lovejoy to join Marvel universe
lovejoy425.jpg

THE Walt Disney Company has acquired the rights to feature roguish antiques dealer Lovejoy in its Marvel Avengersfranchise.
Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed the seven-figure buy-out of Ian McShane’s likeable yet devious art collector from the BBC this morning.
He said: “With our new acquisitions this week of both Spider-Man and Lovejoy, the Marvel Universe continues to go from strength to strength.
“Fans can be sure that the next Avengers movie will be packed with plot lines about shady goings-on inside East Anglian auction houses.”
On an Avengers e-forum, blogger Wayne Hayes wrote: “Having an Ipswich-based antiquer with a shoulder-length mullet and deep facial creases fighting alongside Iron Man, Thor and The Hulk is simply not a true reflection of the original comics.”
Feige said: “I’ve seen sceptics sniping away online about how Lovejoy is not a ‘real superhero’. Then how do you explain his powers for distinguishing priceless heirlooms from clever fakes?
“I’d like to see Steve Rogers aka Captain America tell the difference between a genuine Stradivarius violin and a near-perfect replica. Spoiler alert: he couldn’t.”
Feige added: “This is probably not a good time to reveal that Bergerac is in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.”

but it turns out it could well be true.

Here’s why Lovejoy actually *is* part of the Marvel comics universe
The Daily Mash have published a very funny spoof about ’90s British TV character Lovejoy being cast in a new Marvel Comics movie. But we don’t think this is as ridiculous as it sounds.
Because Ian McShane’s antique dealer/all-round loveable rogue is already part of Marvel comics continuity.

The Daily Mash piece, playing on the recent announcement that Spider-Man will appear alongside other Marvel film characters for the first time.
Ok, stick with us on this slightly tenuous ride.

In 1991, the character of Lovejoy appeared in a jokey trailer for the Antiques Roadshow
Screenshot-2015-02-11-11.43.35-600x441.jpg

Lovejoy was at the height of its popularity at the time – and this gag was probably partly a bit of early promotion for a new series that was just weeks away.
So far, so good. What we’ve established is that ostensibly entirely factual series the Antiques Roadshow is actually set in a parallel universe identical to our own except that Lovejoy is a real person.
Now we skip forward a couple of decades, for an episode of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood
There’s an episode of Torchwood called ‘Ghost Machine’ about this bloke finding something called a ‘quantum transducer’.

Bernie_Harris-600x345.jpg

No, we have absolutely no idea either.
Anyway, one of the things he thinks about doing with the quantum transducer is taking it on… the Antiques Roadshow. So in the universe of Torchwood the Antiques Roadshow exists. We’re going to assume that the Torchwood version of the Antiques Roadshow is entirely factual, which therefore means that Lovejoy is a real person in the Torchwood world.

Now the easy bit: Torchwood is a Doctor Who spin-off, so Lovejoy is also part of the Doctor Who ‘canon’
18lqnizg576whjpg-600x392.jpg

Almost there!
Marvel comics have over the years published various Doctor Who tie-in comics in the US and the UK. There’s one comic in particular we’re interested in – a 1988 story called ‘The Crossroads of Time’ in which Doctor Who meets some sort of space guy called Death’s Head, who was, to make things even more confusing, from the Transformers comics.

Deaths_Head_giant.jpg

Death’s Head has subsequently appeared in actual proper Marvel comics, like this one in which he’s fighting the Incredible Hulk for some reason or other.

Screenshot-2015-02-11-12.05.17-600x384.jpg

The upshot of which is that Lovejoy definitely exists in the Marvel Universe
So there’s is absolutely no reason we shouldn’t see Tinker Dill teaming up with Iron Man to fight space antiques. No reason. NO REASON.

Stolen circumcision ambulance found after tip-off

Stolen: The distinctive private ambulance @ShomrimOfficial/Twitter

A circumcision ambulance stolen in a violent carjacking has been found in a pub car park in east London.
The distinctive vehicle, an Audi TT, was taken in a robbery in Barking as the owner left a patient's house on Alderman Avenue at about 5.15pm, Wednesday.
The male victim, in his 40s, was knocked to the ground and briefly lost consciousness before awaking to see his car being driven away, police said.
A friend of the man told the Standard: "He believes they were waiting for him. They pounced on him, they ripped off his keys off his belt, and also stole his watch, before driving off with his car.”

Scotland Yard said the private ambulance, worth nearly £40,000, was found at 9.30am on Thursday in a pub car park in Newham after being spotted by a member of the public. A spokeswoman declined to name the venue for "operational reasons".
Its discovery came after neighbourhood watch group Shomrim NE London tweeted a picture of the missing vehicle in a post that was retweeted hundreds of times.
It is unknown whether the vehicle, used by a home circumcision service, has sustained any damage.
No arrests have been made. Contact police on 101 with any information.

As a vegetarian I can not condone this message...
Then you're really not going to like this from the same bloke then...

Artist Who Turned Dead Cat Into Drone Plans To Build A Cow Helicopter

Bart Jansen was the focus of media controversy a few years back after images emerged online of his bizarrely morbid creation: a dead cat attached to a remote-control helicopter.
Enlisting the help of Arjen Beltman, a long-term friend and technical engineer, the Dutch artist is now reportedly working on a “mancopter,” which he explains in an interview with Business Insider,as a one-person helicopter in the shape of an animal, preferably a cow. He said:
“A cow could fit a person. So a cow is one of the options. That means we’d be using a cow indeed. Or any other animal we can lay our hands on that fits a person”

Anyone lost three Boeing 747's?

To whom it may concern: Please claim your Boeing 747s
Three 747-200F aircraft have been apparently left unclaimed at the country's main airport.
boeing-747s-malaysia.jpg

A Boeing 747-200F plane with the registration number TF-ARM is seen parked on the tarmac at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang on December 8, 2015.
KUALA LUMPUR: Still puzzled by the mystery of missing flight MH370, Malaysian airport authorities now have the opposite problem: three Boeing 747 planes left unclaimed at the country's main airport.
The operators of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) have placed a bizarre advertisement in a Malaysian newspaper seeking the owners of three 747-200F aircraft apparently abandoned there.
"If you fail to collect the aircraft within 14 days of the date of this notice, we reserve the right to sell or otherwise dispose of the aircraft" under Malaysian regulations, said the ad which ran in Monday's edition of The Star.
The notice was addressed to the "untraceable owner" of the planes. Zainol Mohd Isa, general manager of Malaysia Airports (Sepang), which operates the facility, said the airport had been trying to contact the planes' last known owners.
He said they were "international" and not Malaysian, but declined to give further details. "I don't know why they are not responding. There could be many reasons. Sometimes it could be because they have no money to continue operations," Zainol said.
In addition to wanting the planes to be claimed, he said the airport is seeking payment from the owners for landing, parking and other charges. If no payment is received by December 21, the planes will be auctioned or sold for scrap to recoup the outstanding charges.
The notice gave the planes' registration numbers as TF-ARM, TF-ARN, and TF-ARH. Zainol said two are passenger aircraft and one is a cargo plane.
It is not the first time this has happened at the airport, Zainol added. In the past decade a few other planes, mostly smaller aircraft, were abandoned. He said an aircraft that was abandoned in the 1990s was eventually bought and turned into a restaurant in a Kuala Lumpur suburb.
KLIA was the origin of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared after taking off on March 8, 2014 with 239 passengers and crew aboard in what remains one of aviation's greatest mysteries.
Malaysia earlier this year confirmed that a wing part found on the French island of La Reunion in the Indian Ocean was from the plane. But no further wreckage has been found despite an intensive Australian-led oceanic search.

Nazi racoons on warpath

Reich racoon ... Nazi pest

HORDES of Nazi racoons are out to conquer Europe.
They are just across the Channel from Britain after marching through France, Belgium, Holland and Denmark in a furry blitzkrieg.
Hitler aide Hermann Goering had the US mammals introduced to German woods in 1934 to “enrich the Reich’s fauna”.
But numbers have soared and they are invading new territory — just like the Nazis did. Germany has more than a million racoons.
The 2ft-long creatures have no natural predators and are a serious pest, entering houses to steal food and endangering local wildlife.
Now there are plans to launch a cull. Expert Ulf Hohmann warned: “Racoons will eventually spread to the whole of Europe.”
The menace follows reports of ten million “Stalin” crabs with a 3ft claw span heading towards Britain from Russia.
