Must admit I've got a tiny soft spot for Spuds. They were my second team when they had that midfield of Hoddle, Ardiles and Villa. went off them a lot since then but still prefer them to a lot of Prem teams. It seems to me it's the southern press that hypes them so much. Wouldn't put their fans in the same 'deluded' bracket as the barcodes by any stretch. Like ourselves and Citeh have been living in the shadow of red shirted neighbours for a long time. Was a thread about this and I put a joke post but seriously wouldn't mind seeing an alternative top 4 of us, Villa, Spuds and Citeh with maybe someone like West Ham being the best of the rest.
As for the match Villa good value for their lead and could have had another. Gomes looks very dodgy on crosses but seems to be an excellent shot stopper.

Full Time, 2-1 Aston Villa. I would be furious if i was a Spurs fan. Its the first time i have seen them play a full match and all of their new signings look useless. Their Goalkeeper, Giovani, Bentley, and that Palymuchenko guy they all were terrible. Bentley is supposed to have a good cross, but i dont think on of his crosses met the head of a spurs player.
Id be kind of fustrated if i was MON too, because Aston Villa had so many clear chances, they couldve brought their goal difference up by about 4 goals.
Im dissappointed, i wanted a draw, but still Spurs bottom isnt bad...just Villa up top in 4th
