Spurs to sign Bent

micknick

Player Valuation: £70m
It seems Spurs are about to sign Darren Bent- they really could be the ones to watch next year. They have a young squad and the average value of their players per head is pretty hefty.

Berbatov and Bent upfront- scarey! The back line of:

Chimbonda---Dawson---King---Bale

Now that is pretty awesome add to that a midfield that will include who I believe is going to be a star next season- Tom Huddlestone they look like having a very decent starting 11.

Its a bit worrying that they have improved so much in the past two seasons- we do need a bit of purchasing to catch up. Looking at the likes of Pompey who have added Muntari, Distin and Heirderson and also the toon who again have money to burn- we really need Moyes to get some real quality to make sure we are up in that top 6 bracket again.

Its scary they really do see investing in the team as a priority.

However all that glitters..........

I suppose the difficulty with that is lack of continuity, but also what happens if they finish outside the top four again, alot of money for no gaurentees.

They do seem to be spending heavily, especially for a club with no major backer or large stadium. I mean according to the latest Deloitte rich list they have turnover below that of Newcastle and not far ahead of the likes of Man City and West Ham. Hardly part of the mega-rich. It does beg the question whether they're gambling on breaking into that top four on a regular basis and see the troubles at Arsenal as their chance.

they are owned by a consortium arent they? its not one rich backer, but a group of individuals who all have deep pockets. their 'mansion' sponsorship was quite large as well wasnt it.

Spurs, toon, pompey spending loads and all the jiterry jerrys are out in full force.

as usual, the players spurs buy will do reasonably well, lose value and eventually leave, toon always buy loads of expensive players and they are always [Poor language removed], pompey... well are they the new bolton? can they pull it off every year?

Honestly, looking at the back four of that spurs line up, I wouldn't pick any of them over our defenders.... well maybe any LB would be better than naysmith XD

you have to be cream crackers, chimbonda not better than hibbert. erm...

spurs missed king last season, him and dawson are both fine defenders, if they cut out the defensive mistakes then spurs again will be pushing the top 4.

its the midfield they lack that little bit, zokora, lennon, and malbranque are all capable, but jenas, tainio, ghaly just dont quite cut it. what midfield class they do have is spread a little too thinly.

I see a lot in Tom Huddleston- he is still young but when I have seen him player he has been superb. I saw him live last year and he dictated the play, strong in the tackle and could thread a pass through the eye of a needle- I would be made up if we signed him.

they got him from derby for buttons (with amendments to his contract allowing for further payments)

i didnt see any of the u21 euros, i dont even know who won, but didnt he go with england? and did he get much gametime?

Suits, yes he was in the England side, got sent off against Serbia for objecting to Serb racist slurs. Like Micknick I think the lad is very talented and has a great future in the game.(y)

He didnt get much game time, but mainly due to the fact that Reo Coker (who is captain) and Noble who Pearce rates very highly were in teh centre together.

Huddlestone is huge, hes about 6'2" but has an enormous frame. He is a very good tackler and extremely good in the air- but what I think is his real talent is picking a killer pass and dictating play. Watch out for him this year if he stays injury free.

Spurs spending has gone mental- they are spending silly money:

Ins: Gareth Bale (Southampton, £5m), Adel Taarabt (Lens, undisc), Yuri Berchiche (Athletic Bilbao, undisc), Darren Bent (Charlton £16.5m). Younes Kaboul (Auxerre) £8m
