Spurs apparently are favourite to take over the Olympic Stadium for their new ground beating WHU.

According to reports they will be set to make upto 150 million from naming rights, yes 150 mill straight into the bank account for doing buggar all. On top of that they can then sell White Hart Lane and the surrounding land the club owns. I have not read anywhere that they will be buying the stadium so I maybe incorrect in my comment.

This really angers me,

1. The ground was built with taxpayers money so the 150 mill should go to the taxpayer.

2. The stadium IMO should stay as a world class Athletics venue.

If it happens they will go the way of City, excellent free facilites, you know what happen if a stadium was built in Liverpool though dont you.

Spurs are a terrificly well run club, compared to what they were like 10 years ago they have done extreamly well.

It would be a disgrace if they had to rename themselves "Stratford Hotspur" though...

I mean, you can laugh but a club having to change it's name is really below the belt.

From what i've seen this move splits their fanbase just like moving to Kirkby did for us, a lot of them aren't happy moving there.

Which is why I was delighted England never got either World Cup...

There is a legal case though. As not being in Tottenham their trademark would be misleading....

what with 'arry using our scouts to buy young talent and now trying to get pienaar and neville, now this. I'm begining to dislike the hotspurs.

I came up with a solution: West Ham want it - and it's on their manor (but are clearly never going to fill it). Spurs - if they want it that badly (and - let's face it - on the cheap) should cough up £30-40M (well above the normal sale price but well below the cost of building a new stadium) and the seller passes on half of this to West Ham who can rebuild Upton Park. Result: Sale to Spurs at less than new football ground from scratch - West Ham get a wedge and everyone's happy. Basically the winning bid should be twice the general asking price with half going to the loser...(via a Local Authority Grant).

Its actually Leyton Orient's manor, the two PL clubs should be told to **** off because they both want to take advantage of the silly level of public funding for 2012 in order to line their own pockets by getting a decent stadium (or stadium site) on the cheap. The stadium should be left for athletics.
