I might upset a few people for writing what I am going to write but it is something that has saddened me a bit in the past few weeks. I have always been proud to be an Evertonian...win or lose...as Everton are a proud club with a rich heritage. I would like to see our club win as much as everyone here...believe me...but not at the expense of destroying that which the club stood for all their history. Did I look at awe at clubs like Chelsea when they started winning...no...as those wins were bought. Loyal players and staff were given the boot to be replaced by mercenaries...and how many Chelsea players can proudly say they play for Chelsea and their fans because of what the club are standing for.

Honestly...what pride is left in a club if billionaires take over clubs and throw money around buying everything and everyone they might need. Are Chelsea, Man City and all those clubs still the clubs they were 15, 20 years ago...do they still have the same pride amongst the players, staff and fans...or has it been replaced by a winning at all cost mentality...regardless of heritage, values, loyalty etc. I am not saying winning is not important...it is extremely important...however...not at the cost of losing the most valuable attributes that makes a club proud to be who you are...a club with identity, values, loyalty...those things a proud club stands for. A club...whether its winning or losing...where you are proud to be part of the club...because they are your club and reflects those things important to you...not just winning.

When a club loses that which they stood for all the years...whether they win or lose...its not something they will get back easily. Replacing those values with wins does not make up for what was lost in my opinion. Do I want people to love our club for the wins they have, climbing on a winning bandwagon...or...do I want people to love our club for what they stand for. I choose the latter every time and that does not say I am not ambitious...just that I would love us to stay Everton...the Everton I grew up with...the Everton I fell in love with...the Everton I am proud to be part of even if we struggle for success.

The part that has saddened me the most is the disrespect fans are starting to show towards our club...not caring if dirty laundry is washed in public...not caring if loyal players are belittled...not caring if something is factual or not but grabbing at everything negative they can found regarding our beloved club...and in the process disgracing our club in the media and public...destroying those values we stood for all these years. I myself aren't happy with the way things are going at top level in our club...but to record our chairman in a PRIVATE meeting...without permission...and publish that for the whole world to see is just plain wrong and disgraceful. Have we stooped down to the levels of all the other clubs around us?

Regarding the loan...I have yet to see factual information that it is something out of the ordinary...something that has not been done to make ends meet throughout the years etc. What is disgraceful about a bridgeing loan...nothing that I can see...yet it is used to disgrace our club in public...in an effort to make fans 'aware'. However...did they do proper in-depth homework to ensure they have all their facts 100% correct before doing this...or did they just see something that are possibly negative and use that to enrage the fans in an effort to join them in their efforts to discredit our club in the name of 'for the good of Everton'...yet how much damage did they actually do to our beloved club in the process. How much pride are these groups starting to destroy in being an Evertonian and that which we stood for all these years.

Moyes commented...our captain commented...yet their comments are belittled. I for one respect them for addressign the issue as I am sure they saw that severe damage are being done to Everton and what Everton stands for. This has also in my opinion affected morale at the club itself...one of the key issues that through the years drove our team to over perform...cause they are part of Everton...a club they are proud to play for and reaches into their depths for the club and fans. The game to QPR we could see how the players played...no drive...no attitude of giving 110%...everything...and we blame the manager...we blame the formation etc...however...we never blame ourselves for allowing us as fans to get the clubs reputation and morale destroyed. Is it that there were no transfers that there are troubles off the field from a players perspective...or is it rather that they realize the fans are shouting out for transfers...as they start to realize that indirectly the fans are telling them that they aren't good enough...that the club aren't doing enough...and that the fans wants to see those things more than seeing someone in blue giving their all for our club.

Thats why I feel ashamed...that the winning at all cost above values and pride in who we are are...from other clubs are starting to influence us and that we are becoming just like every other club out there. I fear that we might lose the most important thing out club has...the values we had in Everton throughout all these years. I would hate to see that happen to be honest. I would rather finish 5th or 6th and be proud that we are Everton...than winning and that it might feel empty...because we sold out heritage and that what we stood for to achieve success. i would rather wait a few years...keep what we have and be proud of it...and then winning will be so much sweeter...so proud a moment. Patience is all it asks in my opinion as I do think we will get there...and yes I want us to win BADLY...but once again...not at the expense of feeling that Everton might become a prostitute.

I guess I am writing this asking people to be positive and get behind our manager and team for the teams sake...as they need us the fans now more than ever...

I congratulate the passion and overall eloquence of what you are saying, but like davek I largely disagree with you.

I disagree with the eloquence (PUNCTUATION IS GRAMMAR...) and sympathise with the sentiment. I have no interest in wasting my energy b*tching about kenwrong, mostly cause i guess it's not my agency. I appreciate the blue union's efforts but it's indeed worth to ask questions of the media mess caused between the club and them. Doesn't look good. Though one has to maintain it's time to cause that kind of storm - there are obviously problems at the club. Trying to smooth them over officially doesn't look much better, but then again there's the question of productivity. Does it help to bring the mess to the media? Will it help the club recover? Is it necessary? That's up to subjective debate, and every evertonian can answer those questions for himself.

On a side note, have you noticed how Kenwright has appeared at each of our three games so far this season, in the stands and all? He isn't always there, is he? His smoothing-over-effort is partly laughable, partly laudable. Way to stick up in the face of adversity.

Some fair points. Football's just business now - we can moan all we want but unless we move with the times, we're screwed. I've been alright with Kenwright since the leaked transcript. Nothing new came out so he's been largely telling us the truth. He's not going to come out and tell the world "we're ****ed" - who'll give us a loan then?

What annoys me about the followers of the blue union etc is they are very quick to dish out stick towards the club.
But very seldom do i see a post from them containing anything positive ,results, players, performances, the excellent academy etc.
Their only mandate is to attack the club in all quarters, even fans who do not hold their views.
A point I raised with their foul mouthed so called leader on kipper, who's response was to hurl yet more abuse towards me and my family.

Good post. Too much negativity becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I don't blame Moyes or the board. We are victims of a system that has created a handful of super clubs we can't compete with. I blame Uefa and their rigged Champions League.

I blame the R/S for everything! But i blame Everton moving from anfield for the R/S existence!

The Critisicim of the Blue union is unfair as they have knowledge of how our great club has been brought to it's knees finnancially by this incredibly inept group of people. If this had carried on and we had the loan called in by the banks without them releasing the tape we would have all been asking them why they didn't release the tape.

Its because we all love this club that we don't ignore the obvious and allow this to go on.

I disagree. All Kenwright is guilty of is supporting Moyes with as much money as he can without risking the clubs financial future. £45 million isn't a huge amount. We could sell 2 of our star players and we'd be back on a sound footing. The only thing I support the Blue Union on is criticism of the board for not coming up with a viable stadium option.
