Thought Yakubu's hold up play was good today, he's the only one who can turn the defence and he's getting chances - he's always been a streaky scorer, his goals will come!

He was our best option today mate, no alternative really.

I thought he played much better, if he continues to improve we will be sorted up front like. It's only a matter of time before he starts slotting again, and when he does: phwoar.

It would be nice, but not likely to be the same player in my opinion, and only really in the overly optimistic. Come January he'll probably want to move on. He did a job like he has done for all his clubs, but it's what Yak does. He's like The Littlest Hobo.

I suppose my point is that maybe Moyes doesn't need to tell the world that the Yak is out of condition, it sounded like he was making excuses for his performance, which according to the average layperson, was fairly decent.
Like you I didn't see the game mate but , yes it sounds like he had a decent game. Maybe Moyes was talking about that extra bit of sharpness needed to put those chances away. He's not a dainty lad as we know so maybe that type of constitution needs that little bit of extra work to get the muscle tone up to scratch for this level. I seriously hope it's just that mate coz we need the best version of Yak firing on all cylinders asap. As for the rest I feel it's just down to confidence. I know it's a cliche and you can't rely on a turn of luck to get things started but I'm convinced that a jammy 1-0 win will get the machine ticking over. Hopefully we can put in a good performance against Brum but score a couple of nice goals which would be a better way of getting going.

I've really overdone it with the metaphors there, haven't I?

The thing is that you can beat me up with my history stick here, as its what he's done before.

Im outta this thread.
