Thought I'd try and steer folks away from the usual transfer threads, Kenwrong threads etc. with something a little different, in the hopes that it will give some of us a lovely warm, nostalgic glow inside.

I thought I'd share my own story of how I became a blue, seeing as how I'm not a scouser and all (be gentle....), in the hopes that others might joint in. The how's and why's of my love for the blues is usually the first thing that people ask me when they find out who I support, so I figure peeps must be curious!

Right, well, I saw the (blue) light in about '86ish, when I would have been 4/5yo. I was on a family holiday to Blackpool, and we came accross a stall selling teddybears in the colours of all that year's Div 1 teams, complete with badge's stitched onto the chests. When I stopped to look at them, my dad told me that if I wanted, I could pick one and he would buy me it (I reckon you can see where this is going...).
Obvously, I picked me up an Everton teddy and, from that day forward, have been as loyal a blue as I can manage!

I still have the teddy, its still in my parents loft I think, although the badge that it used to have on its chest has sadly long since fallen off and been lost :(

So, that's how it happened for me......what about the rest of you?

nice thread...right here goes...
When i was born, at my grandparents house, my g'dad had a large, handmade, woven everton rug(?) hanging in pride of place on his wall. It was a scene he'd had copied and made from the 66 cup final. Within minutes of my birth said rug was taken from wall and i was duly wrapped in the rug and proclaimed by g'dad to be a blue. As it currently stands i'm into my 42year and proudly born a blue. I will also die a blue. Sadly g'dad Jimmy is no longer with us but was as blue as they come. NSNO

Watchin the 84 cup final at home in ireland. Askin my uncle to Go out to play football. He says no your cousin is playin for everton. Turns out kevin sheedys dad and my dad are first cousins. His dad came from clare go ireland. Been a staunch blue since. Get over two or three times a season and even though at times they drive of crazy i love been a blue.

Ha cant remember how i became an everton fan and i am the only one as my family all support liverpool plus my uncle use to buy me liverpool kits when i was younger that i threw straight into the bin trying to change me into one of them , but my first memory of an everton game that i actually remember was 1990 beating wrexham 6-0 and 5-0 in a two legged cup game

I watched the 09 cup Semi finals here in the states and was instantly a fan of the whole team. The fans, the players, THE MANAGER, everything about Everton just felt right. Follow that up with the LD9 spell there last year and by this season I was hooked. I now do know my history and am damn proud to be a blue. My first game at Goodison should be within the next few years as I study abroad while at university.

I'm from telford so it was mainly wolves and some scatterings of Utd and the ****e. My first proper mate was scouse and a blue. It turned out we were quite good, 1984 onwards. Being a goalie, big nev was an inspiration for me. The best keeper in the world at the time. Moved to Manchester in 2005, got myself settled, bagged a mrs and got a couple of season tickets and my love for everton was at it's highest. A dream come true. A kid and a new house later has left me brassick, so a temporary hiatus without regular visits down the M62.
