Not expecting a full run through of all teams immediately, but it would be good to get peoples views as teams weaken, or strengthen during the closed season.

We can even predict on the basis of this who is likely to face the chop.

For me, Birmingham have started to buy at the right end of the team, at the back. They haven't lost anyone of note, they've got Joe Hart. At present, they are looking good to stay up.

Villa have a real task. Forget about weak team in the Uefa cup. I think the loss of Laursen was the real effect on them. Unless they can replace him, and also Barry, they'll struggle this season IMO.

What say you?

I say its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early to determine whos stronger and who isnt.

I mean you could say Villa, Utd are weaker because of the loss of Barry and the Diver. But it depends which players they bring in.

City are clearly stronger with the purchase of Santa Clueless and Barry, while I dont consider Santa to be worth anywhere near the fee, he can play and he can score.

I think Portsmouth will be in trouble next season. Just don't seem good enough all round. They've got some good individuals, but can't seem to play well together! And the fact that they have lost Diarra, Johnson, Defoe and Muntari in a year isn't good.

I hope to god Stoke go down next year. They are everything that is wrong with football. [Poor language removed] tactics, [Poor language removed] team and an all round [Poor language removed] team to watch.

The top 4 will finish in the same order, and we'll finish 6th-7th.

Man City I would say will be the most improved side this year, after last years poor year. If Hughes dosn't make the team perform (which I think he won't), they will bring in a manager who can control players.

Which then means we will have a place out of UEFA Cup already taken.

Aston Villa have lost a VERY important player in the signs of Gareth Barry, and Manchester United have lost Ronaldo & Tevez.

It will be intresting.

The idea is to guage where teams are as they purchase / lose players right up to the close of the transfer window. My intention is not to ask people to make rash predictions too early about what the season holds, that is way too early. It is a "living thread" where people can make judgements as the pre season progresses.

That said, at the mo, Hull, Stoke are my favs to go down. Somehow I think that Burnley could stay up.

Villa are looking absolutely anemic atm.

Barry and Laursen gone. In the papers today that Bouma might be retiring, and the big clubs have been fishing around Young.

Outside top 8 for me next season.

Posted via Mobile Device City are deffo stronger and unless Hughes gets them into top 6 he'll be out next May. Black Cats to go down, new manager but stil sh*t.

Just looking at the current transfers:

Teams that have improved:
Birmingham
Liverpool
Man City

Teams that have weakened:

Aston Villa
Portsmouth
Man United

Best deals on the transfermarkets have Birmingham and Man City done. City have strengthened their midfield and strikerforce already and are sniffing around 2-3 defenders as well.

Birmingham have borrowed Hart as a goalie and strengthened with 3 defenders, which shows that they have strengthened where it's needed most. Now they can only wait to see if their new players have what it takes to manage in PL.

Hull to finish bottom by a mile. Can't see them signing Owen, and it looks like Fraser Campbell isn't interested. Will have to go for more realistic targets.

have i misread the title of this ? as you are all talking about prem teams.

Leigh Genesis will be a force to be reckoned with, Gary Flittcroft as boss and a fantastic new stadium and training facilities, i wont be going though unless they get a league team in the cup.

I think it means, which teams are improving and which aren't improving in the prem.

Though it is rather confusing.

I reckon Wigan's bubble is about to burst. They really were disappointing after Zaki went completely off the boil around xmas, now they won't have him, Palacios, Mido, Scharner seems to be on the move whilst Valencia certainly is, Olivier Kapo is desperate to leave, some bigger sides are sniffing around Cattermole and seeing as they were making Bramble their new captain - presumably Melchiot might be on his way too.

New manager's got what? - 2 years experience, only one in the championship.

Right now, Hull, Wigan & Burnley going down for me.

And how right you where my man!

Got to say, Villa have done a lot better than I expected.

Buying Downing has let Milner step up to the plate and do Barry's job in the middle and the defenders they've brought in have really shored them up at the back.

I thought they were certs to struggle, which shows what I know, eh.
